Wow, it's certainly going to be a big challenge for him - and for you !

Before he starts he should:

1- check on cronometer how much calories he's been eating on his meat based diet, so to eat enough when he'll be on 80/10/10

2- have a blood-test, so he'll be able to compare at some point, it could be extra motivation for the times he will struggle (cause he probably will)

And don't forget about bad food combining, as he will continue to eat some animal products !

Ashley - I know how you feel! Imagine 22 years of it. He was never interested in eating the way I did. This has FLOORED me. You never know when your example will pay off. :D

You are so awesome and lucky....my birthday is coming up and all I want for my birthday is my boyfriend to become vegan....I feel like we aren't as connected as we should. It can be so disappointing.

Banana Boy: 30yrs of coffee gone - THAT ROCKS! I lost my craving for coffee and tea when I came to 30Bad as well. I'm so happy that's gone. Will take your advice on calories. He is 6'2..I'm sure I need to start higher than 3000 calories...what do you recommend?

In 1994 Dr. McDougall spoke with William Clifford (“WC”) Roberts, the former head of the pathology division of the National Institutes of Health, the editor in chief of the American Journal of Cardiology, and the executive director of Baylor Cardiovascular Institute at Baylor University Medical School. Roberts discusses the prevention and reversal of heart disease, and the advantages and methods of getting one’s cholesterol down to 150, a level that he says can create immunity, in most cases, to atherosclerosis. “Most people get 40% of their calories from fat, but if you can get your fat down to 10% of calories, that’s how you can reduce your total cholesterol by 30%,” says Roberts, who adds that without medication this requires adhering to a pure vegetarian diet such as the McDougall Program.
