Amazing Rob. Thanks for sharing. Caribbean Red is my favorite papaya too...currently paying 1.49/lb--most of the time I pay around $6 for a large one. Worth it, though, because I'm addicted! Just looking at all that white, sandy soil. Keep us updated on your progress.
That is fantastic! Looking forward to seeing the gorgeousness increase! :)
Mulch is free to pick up in unlimited quantities around here! :)
Interesting, is mulch easy to come by around there? I'm reading Ruth Stout's book 'The No-work Garden' and she spreads hay about 8 inches thick over everything, right against the plant stems, no til, no watering, no weeding. It's a good book.
Thanks Shell! :)
The soil is sandy/lime-rock-y but I'm building it up with mulch and stuff.
I plant most stuff on mounds and trees on higher spots like the ditch shoulders. I plant close to the surface because the ground saturates during the rainy season and to much water kills the roots.
Just lovely Rawbert!!! How is the natural soil there? How deep are you planting?
