Really disgusted, 2 horses died in the grand national and commentator refers to them as 'obstacles'

Posted on April 10, 2011 at 7:52pm 0 Comments

The Grand National is a large horse racing event which predictably every year results in the deaths of horses due to the ridiculously high jumps. It is so cruel but there is a lot of money in the form of horse bets so they really see the deaths as acceptable, despite the protests and disgust by many people. I have hated it since I can remember because it is so cruel but I am super depressed I really hoped there wouldn't be any deaths this year and there were :(

Did anyone hear the debate with Sally Fallon and Will Tuttle?

Posted on February 16, 2011 at 2:12am 3 Comments

Sally was very matter of fact, we kill animals because we need them to survive, but what if we don't? Everyone survives ok here! I know the vegan diet can be done wrong resulting in failure to thrive and rotten teeth in children. But what if we did it right? What would that look like? No more needless suffering and death, because as Sally admitted factory farming is atrocious. Yet we need them to keep up with demand, so everyone would need to eat less meat if there were only organic farms…

Well it does kind of suck for sure when there only is food from June to October roughly, how are you supposed to survive the rest of the year? ;-) Bad move to leave Africa back in the days, bad move... =D

They do grow some stuff down here, like grapes, even nectarines and the like enjoy the right spot, but for much of the year it's all dead. To me thriving on this diet definitely entails sunshine, warmth and fresh fruits!

I was trying to gauge how much people in the UK spend in average as I'm trying to get some more people to order with me from the wholesaler so I can order more often (minimum order £350). I suppose your £50 is a lot per person and week in general terms in this country? I was shopping at Waitrose the other day and filled in a questionnaire where they asked how much we spend a week on food. There were a number of options, I think the lowest was like £20 or something and the highest was "£140 or more"... I realised most people here probably spend a lot less than we.

About food spending,

Well, I for sure spend a lot more than you do! I'm probably averaging more like £175 - £200 a week, although I do have a wife and two young kids who also eat their share. Stilll, I'd estimate I myself eat about £125 - £150 worth of food every week, if not more. We spend about £1,000 a month on food as a family and I certainly eat most of it. We buy from an organic wholesaler which frankly doesn't save much money but gives far better quality and availability.

It would definitely make sense to move to a warm country and I will! I have all the prerequisites, all that remains is to convince my wife... =D
