As many of you are well aware of, food has always been a key icon of culture. Hence, my parents have become very concerned that I'm losing a great portion of my identity by changing my diet. I'm not…Continue

Despite not ever having severe or life threatening health issues, I began to revaluate my life a couple months ago (around November?) after the recent death of several close friends and relatives due to disease. It was very painful for my family and I to experience such losses, and I believe it was especially hard for me because deep down I've always known the diseases and consequent deaths were evadable.
Around December or so, I decided I needed to begin my journey to better emotional, spiritual, and mental health by targeting my diet. I was relatively unhappy with my weight and the extra "flab" I'd recently developed arounds my stomach, thighs, arms etc so I embarked on a calorie restricting Joanna Soh diet. I'm not going to lie, I felt pretty great (I'f you sent aside the crazy cravings and badgering hunger). Honestly, now that I think about it, maybe the only thing that made me feel so great was the fact that I could tell I was loosing weight.
Now, maybe around February or so, I found Freelee!!! Despite my initial distaste for her bold bluntness, I found myself intrigued, watched basically all videos on 80/10/10 and began cutting out animal products from my diet soon after (not too hard considering I'm lactose intolerant). I'm now entering my third or forth week on raw till four. I've felt my body pack on a ton of weight (not sure how much because I've never had the habit of weighing myself regularly) but my face, legs, arms and stomach feel much plumper.
Although I'm very uncomfortable with my 5 or 6 pound weight gain (again, I'm just estimating) I can see my face clearing up the few pimples I had.
On the bright side, I have no cravings, I'm always full XD, and I'm happy with what I eat. I can totally see myself eating like this forever and I very excited to meet my real self in a couple months :D

Hey! Im a relatively young girl (17 years old) living in my beautiful California. My family is originally from the Mexican-Caribbean where I lived in the beautiful and tropical state of Veracruz. I'm a latin dancing addict (honestly any music and dance but the spicy rhythms of the Caribbean entice me), a wiccan, an artist, a pansexual, a human rights and civil rights activist (same thing no?) and a fruit, people and life enthusiast!
Please list your website/blog/facebook/myspace etc

My aunts and uncles PRAISE my younger sister because she's a "carnivore" yet still remains skinny as can be. She has a beautiful frame for a 12 years old and I love her to death but It's hard for me to refrain from being so defensive when people make comments about how I should be as "care-free" as she is, about how "extreme" this diet is, about how animals can screw themselves and how I'm too young to worry about health. I intend to live the fullest and happiest life I can live and it really frustrates me to see so much self destructive behavior around me (especially since I'm around drunk teens 24/7...ok maybe I'm exaggerating but you get the picture). PLEASE... HOW TO COPE??
