Hey all! So eating hcrv makes me feel great, very light in my tummy after I eat.  Today I had a cupcake.  I know, I'm not advocating this.  It was vegan and made with icing made out of earthbalance. …Continue

Well... where do I begin? I guess I will say that out of pure desire to change and desperate need of real community I will try and be as transparent as I can in describing myself and my journey to seeking health. I had been (a very overweight) lacto-ovo vegetarian going on 7 years, thinking I was going to lose weight and be eating ideally. Everyone I knew thought this was beyond extreme but I stuck at it, thankfully, because it ultimately led me to the point I am at now. Then my 2 year old daughter developed a severe milk allergy last year. It encouraged me to look into why milk would be so bad and I came across many, many articles by several different doctors and non-doctors alike about veganism, its benefits to our health and the world and why milk was way worse than just bad. So, in early february of this year I went vegan. I lost about 22 lbs in about 3 months and during that time I was searching online continually to find vegan resources, recipes, blogs, cook books, how-to-guides, etc an then I stumbled upon a you-tube video of a man who lost 200 lbs eating "raw". Raw? I had never heard of this way of eating and so my search continued, as more and more information had been flooding in I came to my own intuitive question and answer.... But how can all of these diets be right? Which way is true? Which way is healthy? And just when I came across a website promoting the eating of raw meat (Ah! Raw meat!?! I could not believe that this was key to living vitally) I stumbled upon a man called Durianrider who had a video out on youtube that resonated so deep w/in me that I knew I had found the answer. Of course, we are all one species, we should all be eating one diet. So here I am, planning on making the switch, after several weeks of revamping and adding in more fruits and greens, tomorrow. I feel that this website is a God-send, an answer to prayer. As I am still severely overweight and am looking to change my life. I am thankful and SUPER excited.

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are....
I am an outdoors girl at heart. I love all things nature, walking, hiking, canoeing. I write music/lyrics/poetry and play the acoustic guitar. I love sitting around a camp fire talking, laughing, singing and just enjoying wonderful company. A few movies that I really like are Catch and Release, The Princess Bride, The Kingdom of Heaven, and pretty much anything w/Adam Sandler or Meg Ryan. I love all things music- world beats, latin, duranguese, merengue, classic rock and most other genres that evoke passion, fluid melody and dance... oh, and I am really getting into hula hooping for fun and exercise!

Hmmm... lots of encouragement! May need help figuring out how much to eat (Although I really "get" the whole listening to my body as to "when" to eat) and, to be very honest, just some raw vegan friendship. I do not know any other vegetarians personally so this is going to be just another "extreme" measure taken in my life and I read the posts on here and just want to be involved. Also, I have two very young daughters who are vegan as well and am curious as to what other mamas are choosing to feed their babes and how they are growing/deveIoping as a result. I am very excited and open to help... Thanks in advance!

First day of official 80-10-10!

Posted on July 24, 2011 at 12:28pm 0 Comments

I am so happy that I got through this day!  It was surprisingly easy and I think I know why after having thought a bit.  The last day I tried to get through the day I had started off with peaches and was craving cooked food by lunch.  Today I started with bananas and just kept going.  I think the book, as I said before, has also really changed my thinking as well.  It is so hot here and I do not have air conditioning so all I did physically was housework, laundry, take care of…

Hello to all you beautiful inspirational raw vegans!  This is my first blog post here on 30BaD...

Today I went for a swim, as the heat is intense here in WNY, with my daughters.  It was refreshing to be in the water again.  I believe this is also the time of year when these furry, black, jumping spiders (of which I do not know their name) are hatching all over the place here as well.  My house has them in every window and they are everywhere outside.  The ones in my windows…
