So I've been going all out on the non-restriction thing, having 10 banana smoothies every morning, another 1,000 calorie smoothie for lunch, and huge bowls of rice and pasta for dinner. My family is…Continue

I've been a vegan for 3 years for ethical reasons, but in the past year I've also shifted my focus towards health as well. Before, my vegan diet was full of Oreo's, potato chips, soy cheese, bread, and very few whole fruits and vegetables. This past year I've tried several types of diets: high protein/low carb, juice fasts, high fat, etc. While I have gotten better at eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, these diets have not gotten me the results I've wanted, not in the area of health, energy, weight loss or fitness. I've only very recently discovered the 80/10/10 book, and I'm stunned by the simple common sense contained in it. This type of diet makes so much sense, and I'm really hoping that this is finally IT, since I've tried so many diets before (many of which are contradictory). I'm just tired of switching diets a million times after learning that the one I was doing before was wrong and this new one is right (i.e. high fat is bad, then low fat is bad, and now I'm hearing that high fat is bad AGAIN). This high carb, low fat raw diet goes against several of the nutrition principles I've been taught (fruit is too sugary, there is nothing to fear from high amounts of fat as long as it's plant based, some vegetables are more nutritious cooked, etc.). But, I haven't gotten the results I've been looking for, so clearly there is something wrong here. I'm here to try out this 80/10/10 diet to see if it works. I figured I should at least try it before I dismiss it.

I like to read nonfiction books about health and wellness, as well as browse through cookbooks for ideas. I also love reading about travel and my aim in life is to travel to as many places as possible. Ballet is my main source of fitness inspiration and passion, and improving my endurance and overall performance is one of the reasons I'm exploring the HCRV lifestyle.
We recommend you purchase Freelee's ebook "Go fruit Yourself!". It is a must-read for newbies to the high carb raw vegan lifestyle.

The only assistance I need is that I'm not a huge fan of fruit. In fact, I'd much prefer a high vegetable diet over a high fruit diet. The texture of most fruit I just can't stand, such as strawberries (the seeds), oranges (the white stringy matter), apples (just makes me gag), etc. I like bananas, mangoes, grapes, cherries, and that's about it. I can handle pureed fruit so I'll be having a lot of fruit smoothies I suppose. Also, giving up cooked foods is certainly going to be an issue. How can I give up my precious curries, hummus, baked sweet potatoes, veggie stir fries, and veggie burgers? And again, I'd be more okay with the diet if it allowed for more vegetables than fruit rather than the other way around. But I'll try to cope. Conditions I'm seeking to cure through diet, exercise and other lifestyle changes are: fatigue, skin and hair issues, excess weight, hormonal imbalance (irregular and painful menstruation), and junk food cravings/dependency.

One Week In... I Think?

Posted on January 10, 2016 at 1:24pm 1 Comment

So I've been doing Raw Til 4 pretty consistently for about a week or so, haven't really been counting the days, haha. My breakfast and lunches have almost exclusively been 1,000 calorie datorades. They're easy to make, and I only add a little water, so they're much more compact and easier to handle than a 10 banana smoothie with the same amount of calories. Sorry, but when I'm going to work in the morning, I don't have time to spend an hour drinking a giant smoothie, and I can't really bring…

Suddenly Feeling Sleepy After Meals

Posted on December 30, 2015 at 11:05am 1 Comment

I've always been able to get a good amount of sleep, but not at the ideal times... I usually go to bed late, anywhere from midnight to 2 or 3am. I sleep usually for ten hours, sometimes as long as twelve hours. Despite the amount of sleep I get, I still wake up feeling groggy, and it's difficult for me to get up. I constantly yawn throughout the day, too. That's why I've begun to suspect that I get low quality sleep that negates how long I sleep for.

One thing I've noticed doing Raw…

I'm back... hopefully for good!

I first became aware of this lifestyle of January this year. I can't believe I've known about this for a year already! And yet I still haven't committed to it totally. Until yesterday.

To quickly summarize my background for those who don't know: I've been vegan for 4 years, but it hasn't been the healthiest vegan diet as I did it for ethical reasons and didn't pay much attention to my health. When I finally started to get into healthy eating about two years ago, I first went with…

Breaking out!! :(

Posted on February 20, 2015 at 5:58am 4 Comments

About 5 or so days ago I started breaking out again! And I was doing so well without getting any breakouts before that. I have been not following a raw diet totally, but I don't think my indiscretions have been bad or often enough to make me breakout on this scale. It's worse than when I was eating my former crap junk food vegan diet! What gives? I've been eating a ton of white rice (Freelee eats it so it can't be that bad, right?), so could that cause breakouts? Have some people started…
