Our community would be delighted to know you better. Please tell us more about yourself and what brought you to 30BaD. I'd been vegetarian on and off again throughout middle school and high school. After graduating I went back to eating meat and a very poor SAD diet which caused me to gain 40 lbs. of fat/bloating in two years. I felt sicker than ever mentally and physically and I knew my diet was the main culprit so I cut out meat for good! I knew this time I would never go back but rather work my way towards becoming vegan (somewhere far, far, down the line). Or so I thought. After about six months of being veggie again I came across an article on Freelee's "Banana Diet" and watched some of her videos.
I realized that although I was a vegetarian I really wasn't eating enough fruits or vegetables and was consuming large amounts of coffee, bagels, pizza, and veggie burgers. My weight loss had plateaued and I still felt very tired much of the time and bloated. So I figured I may as well make the switch to be vegan (since it was something I'd planned on doing down the line anyways) as a means to force myself to eat more whole foods.
I decided to start my vegan diet for the 2014 new year, two weeks into it I gave up. I believe that this happened for two reasons. Number one, I didn't know what I was doing. I still had so much to learn about how and what to eat. Number two, I was doing it for weight loss and not really so much for health or for the animals and the environment etc. So my motives were selfish ones, and I was uneducated to say the least. However I didn't become discouraged, quite the opposite. I became obsessed with watching youtubers and reading articles and bought Dr. Douglas N. Graham's 80/10/10 book.
Then one snowy day in February in which my whole family was cooped up at home I watched Freelee's "Best Speech Ever" video with Gary Yurovksy. I was sold. It gave me all the reasons in the world to go vegan once and for all. I showed the video to my family as well and the same day my sister (who I'd encouraged to go vegetarian with me in the past) chose to become vegan with me as well.
It's been a long journey so far and I'm still a "wobbly-legged baby vegan"! Hahah! But I'm learning as I go what works best for me and I feel so lucky to have came upon this lifestyle. I wouldn't want it any other way!

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are....
I know it sounds like a cop-out but I really do like a little bit of everything. I'm pretty open minded and I don't like to limit/label myself by saying I like this and that lol I'm constantly changing and evolving. The only label I am proud to stand by is VEGAN!! Buuut, I love to get outside whether it's working in the garden, taking my dog for walks, jogging, going to parks, hiking, swimming. The whole sha-bang! haha. I like to practice yoga off of youtube but I'm like a total beginner. I love cooking. I love being with my friends and family. I love nature. Meditating. Trees....^_^
