1.) Are banana chips o.k. as an emergency snack? Just something to keep in the car to snack on should I end up stuck somewhere without any ripe and fresh fruit? I'm talking about the cheap 99c bags…Continue

How to start transitioning

I there, I'm brand new here and I'm interested in following 80/10/10. I've been interested in the lifestyle for a long time, but recently I got sick and all I craved were bananas. Every thing else…Continue

I'm a vegetarian and I'm very interested in following an 80/10/10 diet. Based on what I've read on this forum and others, 30BaD seems to be a knowledgeable and supportive community that will help me on this path.

I need tips on transitioning. Is it better to jump in all at once or is a slower transition more conducive to success? I'd also like to learn more about optimal exercise levels on this diet.

Yet another advantage to 80/10/10

Posted on March 3, 2012 at 5:13am 2 Comments

Last night, my 5-year-old decided to get up in the middle of the night for some strawberries. Well, she didn't close the fridge all the way.

By the time we found it in the morning, it had been opened for about 7 or 8 hours. But the only things that went bad were my husband's milk and some mayonnaise. All of the fruits and veggies were still good, as were the tofu, veggie meats, almond milk, pesto, dressings, and other veggie snacks that my non-80/10/10 family eats.

I remember…

Two Great Days in a Row

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:35pm 3 Comments

Both yesterday(Tuesday) and today(Wednesday), I ate 100% lfrv. It was great! Lots of fruit: mostly bananas and dates, but also strawberries, grapes, and frozen cherries. Tons of greens: spinach in my smoothies, a small mixed green salad with lunch, and  a large mixed green salad with dinner. Last night I added avocado to my salad and it left me feeling heavy, so I skipped it today. I've always loved avocado in the past, but it felt like eating straight fat. Instead, I added a few pumpkin…

Some Before Pictures and Background Story

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 1:52pm 3 Comments

I decided to take some before photos to show you guys. I've only been transitioning for a little while now.

To give you some background info, I've been vegetarian for 7 years. 2 of those years, I was dairy- and egg- free. Coincidentally, those were the years when I was pregnant with my DD and her first year or so of life. After she was born, I had no problems losing weight. I was eating a Dr. McDougall style diet and I was back in my size 6 jeans at 2 weeks postpartum. I was 135lbs at…

Binging and Purging :-(

Posted on February 16, 2012 at 1:43pm 4 Comments

So, transitioning was going great for awhile until yesterday and today. Both days started out the same: a healthy fruit breakfast with a healthy fruit lunch and then ending in binging on fast food takeout. Yesterday I just binged, today I binged and purged.

I feel HORRIBLE for doing this. Both days I stuffed myself until it hurt. Today, I felt like I had to force myself to vomit to get relief from the pain.

I know undereating is playing a role. Today, I only ate 5 bananas, 9…

Thanks for commenting on my most recent blog, hun.

@Justine - Thanks lovie.  My son is very excited about my exercise and weightloss journey.  It is about more than weight or looks, or I wouldn't last.  My entire life is riding on my health getting better.  The weight is weigh down.  It stops me from doing a lot things that I would like to do.  But you know what?  This is loving myself more.

I don't experience people talking about me in person.  I do get a little bit on Youtube, but not many other places.  Thank God for that.  I just want to be my best.

Thanks Justine for commenting on my blog post.  I think my mom got it when she was shopping with me today and in the future will get me the pudding bananas.  I think she just wants to see me eat the darn things.  LOL!  :) That will make her happy.  I'm gonna make my son a apple pie smoothie tonight.  :)  Thanks for your Love!
