How long does it take to recover from falling off the wagon?I've been HCV (not raw-I eat rice/potatoes at night) for about 2 months now, and its been great. My body became more sculpted, allergies…Continue

I have seen a lot of youtube videos about this lifestyle, and have been inspired to try it out. I had a test day a week back to see if I could truly stay HCRV for a whole day, and felt so good the whole day (despite also taking the SAT). After that, I really just wanted to stay with the diet but my family has not been particularly supportive. I am a teenager living at home, and while my parents are willing to help me eat healthy, they do not believe vegan-ism is good for teenagers. In any case, I would LOVE to join this community so that I can have support -and support other- throughout this journey.
I am a dancer and, as most dancers are prone to, developed an obsession with my weight about a year back. I began to eat a paleo-like diet with calories restricted to 1200 per day. I was so desperate to lose weight that I didn't care that I was becoming faint in dance class, didn't care that I was snapping at all of my friends and family, didn't care that I couldn't focus in class because I was planning out my next "cheat day" already. All I knew was that I was loosing weight- and that was all I wanted.
I watched endless cooking videos on youtube, read cook books, admired photos of food. At some point during this time I stumbled upon on of Megan Elizabeth's videos on the raw lifestyle, and I remember automatically dismissing the whole lifestyle because I thought fruit was completely off limits.
Of course, I couldn't continue for very long on the diet. I had multiple cheat days, and ate enormous amounts. I felt so guilty after each binge day, and restricted even more. Finally, my restrictions caused me to cave on my "no fruit" stance and I began to "binge" every afternoon on strawberries, or papaya, or whatever I could get my hands on. But unlike my normal binge days, after these meals I felt full yet happy, for the first time in months.
I remembered the raw foods video I had seen several months back and began to look for more fruit based diets. That's when I found Freelee's channel, and durianrider's. What they said, it made sense. But so had all those paleo diet experts. What sold me was that the diet allowed, in fact required, me to eat all the fruit I wanted. And really, what is more convincing than that? :)
I feel so much better now, I have energy every day to get all my school work done. I no longer snap at people every second. Before, even the smallest noise would break my fragile focus on my studies. Now, it doesn't mater if my parents are having a spirited debate on politics, or if my neighbor is mowing their lawn. I can focus again.
I have energy to exercise all I want, even though I don't need to do a ton. Most importantly, my dance has improved since I can focus again on it and actually have the energy to make it through a whole dance class again.
I have been eating mostly HCR for the last 3 weeks, but still ate Greek yogurt, and a bit of chicken and salmon each day. I really want to transition out of this, for both the health benefits as well as the impacts to environment and to stop the cruelty to animals. For the past few days I have cut out all but the Greek yogurt (the meat was easy to forget). Today though I cut it out as well, and have felt so good! I'm lactose intolerant already, so ideally this should have been the first thing to cut out but somehow it lasted for so long.
Both Freelee and Durianrider have inspired me so much. I look at how energetic, passionate, and happy they are and just want to be like them!
I really hope I can join this community to get support to continue with this journey. Hopefully one day I'll be able to help other people start this diet as well.
