I have never thought about veganism, and one day I was watching a Jenna Marbles video and there was a suggestion for a video by freelee the banana girl about Jenna's weight gain. I didn't agree, but freelee's videos were so intriguing, I couldn't stop watching. My interest was peaked, and I had to know more. I ended up doing a ton of research, and have since added a ton of fruit to my diet. I am still eating some meat, and some cooked foods, and I do plan on cutting meat out entirely. Dairy is gone, I stopped drinking milk a while ago anyway, and I am having fun with it now. I thought I didn't like fruit, but now that i eat it most of the day, I am finding myself craving mangos, bananas, and cantelopes all the time! When I do eat meat, I noticed that I feel gross after, and even like there is salt and fat in my throat. It feels nasty. So, I think thats going to be easy to cut now. Freelee and Durianrider even inspired me to care more about the environment and the vegan message altogether. Now that I have seen the nutrition on sparkpeople and cronometer I really do believe that my required nutrition will be met by following this lifestyle. I was overweight from about age 16 to 18, then obese from age 20 to 28 (my current age.) When I was young, I didn't know anything about nutrition at all, I just ate what I wanted, but I walked a lot, so I dont think it affected me as much as it would have. After kids, though, I really gained weight. I lost a good 50 pounds in 2012 as well as quit smoking while eating a "normal" diet and exercising a lot. Then in Jan 2013, I broke my tibia and fibula and couldn't walk for 3 months. I just blew up. Even after I could walk, and even with moderate exercise. I went from 180 to 236 in less than a year. I wish I had found this lifestyle ages ago. I love to eat, and I hate the idea of cutting carbs. This is really perfect. I'm still pretty new to the whole thing, but I think with some people who already live like this, it will be a smooth transition. I am back to 206 pounds now, and I think with the right nutrition I can lose the rest of the weight. I am old enough to care more about my health and longevity than my looks, though. Health is number one. I want to live long enough to play with my great great great grandchildren. That's what's really important to me. I want to teach my kids so that they can have the best quality of life possible, and I want to encourage others to do the same. I want to spread the message so that we all have a higher standard for what life should be like. I don't think anyone just wants to be "content." I really don't believe that anyone on medication for depression or anxiety or whatever is really any happier. I want better for myself. Luckily, I am not on any pills, but i have had to quit caffeine, which is not easy.

Really I just need encouragement, and maybe some dinner ideas. It's hard to hear negativity from my family already. Also, I am a stay at home mom, and I don't control the budget, so any tips on saving money would help. My hubby is not interested in this lifestyle, but since we have kids and he wants them to be healthy, I do get to buy a lot of fruit, but its hard to get enough for our 4 person family.
