Our community would be delighted to know you better. Please tell us more about yourself and what brought you to 30BaD. I wanted to be vegan to lose weight. I've done the Atkins diet, normal diets, wasn't quite anorexic (But ate only 700 calories a day.), and wasn't quite bulimic but threw up on occasion. So your first impression of me might be a weight obsessed teenage girl (And not too far off.). But after all of those bad diets I found that this one really is good for you, and you can feel it! I now want to be vegan so I can be be healthy. It's not just a diet but a lifestyle. I'm really looking forward to do this for the rest of my life and not have to worry about diabetes or heart issues and all those issues that come in later in life. I'm gonna be forget about losing weight and just worry about being a healthy person >:D

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are....
I love J.R.R Tolkien, recently I've been reading books like 1984 and have dabbled into some Ayn Rand, I love fantasy novels and Cornelia Funke, Harry Potter, and books on how to learn how to do something. I'm an otaku and love manga also. I go to the library constantly and usually am reading some sort of book.

I love Action movies with a great plot, pixar, and quirky films like Edward Scissorhands.

I love art in general. I paint with acrylics and oils, and draw a lot. I play piano and am learning bass guitar. One day I'm going to save up enough money to buy software and hardware to record. In the meantime I'm doing artwork for a video game.

I just started being vegan and I can tell this is something I'm not going to give up. It's hard getting started though. I bought the book 'Go Fruit Yourself', and it's been very helpful. My biggest problem is: No one else in my family is vegan (And I'm still in high school so I live with them.) and I'm constantly around non-vegan food. I'm also a waitress at a nice restaurant, and at the end of the day you're surrounded by pastries up for grabs and plenty of other food. I work 5 hours shifts and you're not aloud to have food breaks. I stuff my face with fruit before I go to work so I won't be hungry, but at the end of the shift it's so tempting.Any tips on not being tempted? I think I'll just have to buckle down, but any advice would be great.

I was meaning my advice as providing yourself with another meal while at work, so you're not as hungry afterward, and therefore there's less temptation for the non-food.  Thinking of it as "not food" might help too...you know it doesn't truly nourish you the way raw fruits and veggies do, so it's not right to call it "food."

Advice...bring your own food--big smoothies let's say, since you can eat/drink them quickly.  You might need to put it somewhere you can hide it.  So on your bathroom/rest breaks that aren't supposed to be food breaks, just eat/drink anyway.  You can try explaining to your employer that you can't work as well if you don't have at least *something* in between that 5 hours.  You could call it a "snack."  If that doesn't work, maybe you can go off-site on your short break(s), where you've stashed your food.  Or you might have to eat/drink while going to the bathroom.

I would make big banana smoothies.  I only need to drink one big one per 3 hours.  So you might only need to make one smoothie for work.  And then you eat your other meals before and after, unimpeded. :-)

Just some brainstorm ideas, like what I'd come up with if I were in your shoes.  Hope it helps! :-)
