Anyone looking for an accoutability buddy?
I have been doing good stretchs of 811 with some cheating, however I would like to be 100% all the time....I am the only one in my family that is doing 811 and none of my friends so I am looking for an accountability buddy for the extra motivation to do a 30 day stretch with me. Any takers?

Cat Moon...I am sorry you are dealing with Lyme as well. It is NO fun. I didn't get a very warm reception here when I posted about my Lyme so I don't post much here :) You can check out my blog though...http://rawveganrunner.blogspot.com/

Now how do you like it out East? I really haven't travelled anywhere in Canada or even seen much of Ontario lol...I have seen a lot of the Mid-western states and Belize through university trips, the Dominican with my mom for graduating university, NY,NY for a choir trip in gr 12 and Germany for a school exchange in gr, 11 :)

Aww, sorry you still have that. Are you avoiding acid stuff? It may require quite a period without even tomatoes. I would just gorge on papaya and maybe celery for a few months (destring the celery to remove the hard fiber - just break the celery stalk gently at the top and peel the strings down) ... But aww, I feel bad for you. Hope it eases soon... Yes, I had a dehydrator early on. Was very useful during transition. When you get past this stomach thing, yes, you can make dried tomatoes. That's important because virtually all the packaged sun dried things have salt added - even when it says "no salt added." Someone on the board looked into that. The companies try to get away with it by adding sea salt rather than table salt. This allows them to say "no salt added" meaning "no TABLE salt added." I would not buy any packaged sun dried tomatoes, organic or no-salt, included... Well, one way you can keep positive in difficult times is to keep reading. Doug Graham's realistic and hopeful advice and all the 811 testimonies by people who began as bad or worse than you will boost your morale and give you something believable to aspire to. I did that early on as well, especially when feeling down, and it never failed to uplift. Try to dwell on success stories, not doubts. For what it's worth, with Dr. D and co. as your guide, there isn't a doubt in my mind that you will overcome this. Along with my own experience, I've witnessed it too many times... Hang in there and you're gonna be fine... Carl

Hi Catmoon! Nice to hear from you. Thanks about the acrylamide post. That's an interesting question about dried fruit. Very. I'm at work still, so can't confirm this, but I would guess that it depends on the drying temperature. If it's above 120 degrees F, then yes possibly it could contain some acrylamide, and surely above 160, the temp at which protein is denatured, it would. The higher the cooking temp the greater the concentration of acrylamide. Supposedly there is none below 120 degrees F. That may not be true. As said, we'll need a more sensitive test to be sure. In the meantime you could dry at 90 or 100 degrees to be safe. These are "natural" temps and impose no cooking effects... Hope you are feeling well... Cheers, Car

Hey, where in Canada are you from?

Hey there!
Glad I didn't bother you. I have a very big mouth making it easy to put my feats/feet in, haha.

Yeah, French lit is amazing. For a taste, try Charles Baudelaire's Petite Poems in Prose. The poems are actually tiny meditations or stories, most about a half page in length. Intriguing and beautiful... I've never read her, Roy, but in high school I almost chose the Tin Flute - wasn't that hers? for a lit assignment. I think I chose Sylvia Plath instead. Bad choice; should've gone with Roy...

Oh, you are so so young, Catmoon! Time hasn't even started, haha...

Nutrition, that's great! No one there (in the school) will have your 811 insight, either. You could end up a real trail blazer...

Are you feeling better yet? Hope so...

To add, yeah, David Klein is the guy on stuff like that. My thing wasn't nearly as severe as his. Wouldn't know about yours. So no acid fruit and certainly no really tough roughage like kale in my case, while mild lettuce like romaine or iceberg was just fine. Your case may be different, calling for no lettuce at all, if that's what Klein advocates. Will probably take some trial and error to know... Hey, disregard that question about age if it bothered you. I was just surprised you were so young. Small photos can't tell either way... Take care, C

Thank you for your friendship. I just saw your thread about your stomach issues. I hope you're able to find the cause and repair it. That's so sweet of Dave Klein to reply and offer his help and advice. I hope you feel well again soon.

Glad maybe my suggestion about the stomach problems can help. The great thing about papaya and banana is they are both very rounded nutritionally and available year round... What school are you in? How young are you, anyway, lol. College age?

Thanks Catmoon - I love that sobriquet - for the nice reply! I was supposed to attend an outdoor party today but looks like it's rained out. Oh, well, indoor work out and then more time for Spanish! I love studying more than anything... almost, haha... Yes, it is a beautiful language. I have a special intrigue for Latin cultures from having started life in Brazil. A deep seminal connection running to my earliest memory... Yeah, I do remember the Loyalist stuff, now that you say that. And I think Champlain was big there during an earlier phase. I enjoy history too. Maybe I'll look into that as well... You know, when it comes to French lit, I hesitate to recommend it to people in general because it can be depressing. If I listed some of my favorites, Flaubert, Baudelaire, Celine, Camus, every one of them would be considered pessimists by the mainstream. I see it differently. They were earth turning thinkers, artists, writing in a time of literary expansion. Full honest expression was a new thing in fact up until the 1960s. As a result, 19th and 20th Cent. writing tends to overindulge - in terms of fair assessment in the broader scheme of things - much of what had been anathema before. Atheism and meaning in the universe, sexuality, social traditions like class and privilege, etc. The art and literary world was like excitable prodigies in a romper room full of new toys. I'm interested in that aspect of it, the unique historical effects of the periods, and the beauty of the overall achievement. The stories are down generally but the exquisite way they are told is absolutely exhilarating at times. No one is a greater example than Celine, his novel, Death on the Installment Plan, in particular. That book is pure genius and one of the best kept secrets in the literary word. For power, definitely in company with Shakespeare, Cervantes, Tolstoy, and yet, almost unknown outside of France. But you shouldn't get me going on this stuff... CONT'D ABOVE
