I'm a 14 year old girl living in Queensland, Australia. In June 2014 I got the worst case of glandular fever and from then on my health started going down hill. I was very active prior to getting it, which made it a struggle when I started becoming ill all the time. Shortly after my glandular fever ended, I started getting headaches every so often. These headaches eventually became all day, every day. I was experiencing these headaches from June 2014 through to 2015, trying every possible thing to stop them. And not just the headaches, my immune system was down, I was feeling fatigued all the time and I got sick so often that I would have to take extended time off school. I went to multiple doctors, physiotherapists, homeotherapists and even a neurologist. I had my eyesight checked, my bloods done, I was tested for any allergies- and yet no change came in my head and no change in my health. This is when I started searching through the Internet, and one day I came across a post on a blog. This girl talked about she had cured her chronic disease through veganism which got me very interested. I found another post stating they had gone vegan and they have never been healthier, their iron levels have gone back up and they're no longer I'll all the time. So I searched veganism up and came across one of Freelee the banana girl's videos. I was amazed at how fit and lean she was, but most of all I was taken aback by her diet. So this video led me onto a long list of other videos regarding veganism until I came across Gary Yourofski's "The best speech you will ever hear" which was really the turning point for me as I realised how many innocent lives I was taking, but more importantly, how many I could be saving. I also came across some of durian riders' videos and found myself relating to what he was saying, talking about so many teenage girls going on diets, starving themselves etc. he also mentioned weight loss and improved stamina which really interested me as I was into long distance running at the time. So I started to make the change and now I have been vegan for around 6 months and rawtill4 for around 4 months. I have never felt better. My health problems were making a major impact on my life, I was struggling physically and emotionally- but now that I have gone vegan, I have never felt better. I can't remember the last time I was sick and my headaches have stopped completely (although I have had to take some natural medication to help with the headaches), I am able to get out and do the things I love. One year ago, I felt like I was deprived of a normal teenagers life, I would never have been able to go out to shops, out with friends or for a run without having stop, but now I have so much energy it's crazy. My school work is improving as I'm not having to take time off and I can be as active as I want to be! Although the best outcome of course, is saving the animals and the environment.
