Wow, it's about time I updated this!

I love anything by Khaled Hosseini, Stephen King, Nick Hornsby. I'm a little behind on my reading so any recommendations are welcome...I love reading about metaphysical and Pagan practices and beliefs as well.
I adore old movies and will watch anything with Marilyn Monroe in it because I think she is amazing. I love the LOTR series but will watch most anything of quality.

So I've been veering away from most animal products but eating a little milk and cheese in sandwiches (not good, I know). I'm officially challenging myself to a high-raw, whole foods vegan challenge on the road to eventually permanently transitioning to LFRV.

Here's what's on the menu for the next two weeks:

all the raw fruit and vegetables I can find (80% of what I will be eating)

salads at dinner

oatmeal with cinnamon and Grade B organic Maple…

Today I was in classes all day and I'm making it a rest day. Have a little headache but I think it is just caffiene withdrawal again and it's getting better.

Today I ate:

2 plates of mixed melon

1 apple

a fruit cup with pineapple and melon (not a good combo but it's what was available)

14 oranges

and a pure bar (which is supposedly all raw but I doubt it)

I have 2 more "transition" bars at home as well as a tub of raw sunflower seeds.…

Monday, March 7th: Personal Progress

Posted on March 8, 2011 at 8:14am 2 Comments

Today I went on the elliptical for 45 minutes. I tried to get some sunshine but after a while the wind became too cold for me to handle. I may take a walk later. I have a slight headache that I believe is from detox.

I ate:

2.5 plates of mixed melon

2 apples

around 15 dates

13 oranges

and I may have some cashews or another overt fat later

It's my time.

I'm done with the crap I've been eating lately. Transitioning slowly is NOT helping. So hold me accountable: starting tomorrow morning, I am feasting on only fruits, raw vegetables, small amounts of raw nuts and seeds, and herbal tea (for the rest of the winter...I need warmth). Wish me luck, and in a week I will post with progress! :)

Great news, Amber! Whole Foods is a great place to work - I hear they treat their employees very well.  Best of luck to you!

Hi Amber~ mad respect to you for having a job right now because I certainly don't! BUT - I know you are looking to improve health in all ways possible and you may want to reconsider working at McDonald's. Frying fat at a high temperature releases toxic chemicals into the air that you breathe, increasing your risk of lung cancer. It's really bothering me that I can't find the source right now, but the study I read said that non-smoking folks that worked in fast food for 10 years had a greater rate of lung cancer than 10-yr pack-a-day smokers that did not work in fast food.  JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT, honey =) Best wishes, JP

thanks Amber. i appreciate your response.

yeah i am rather sensitive about animal rights and i felt really clumsy in how i expressed myself.
expression via blogs and email are tough sometimes because one can't hear voice intonation etc....and an off-the-cuff comment can be misunderstood.
you seem really nice and i didn't (don't) wish you any ill.

so thanks again for the friendly nod :)
all the best, gg :)

hey Amber- i am really sorry if i came off as a total beotch in your recent forum. i'm usually pretty sensitive to the feelings of others and i truly don't think you were trying to offend anyone. i don't always articulate as well as I would like, but i honestly didn't wish to upset you.
it's just hard because so many people do not realize how many animals suffer for their entire lives just to wind-up a 3 minute meal on someone's plate. Our society in general is so numb. Sometimes I personally have a hard time dealing with that and i wish i had a constructive way to enlighten people.
Simply the fact that you are here on 30 BAD means you are becoming more aware :)

if you ever do see Earthlings, as discussed in your slipped forum, you will see the senseless destruction of our fellow earthlings.
But it's a REALLY hard film to watch. It is so very very sad.

Anyway, I wish you peace.
Cheers, gg

Welcome to 30BaD! Love your pic :) That will be me in a week, hopefully. I am new to this site as well but have been in and out of the rawness for awhile. I feel so good about LFRV because it is a real plan that you can actually stick with!!

Good luck to you!!
