I have been vegan for over a year, and vegetarian for 7 years now. I dated someone who embraced raw, and I have spoken to friends who are also raw.
I currently live with my grandma, which is an amazing experience I will treasure for the rest of my life. In 2014 I am moving to Korea to teach ESL. This is part of my plan to incorporate travel into a lifestyle, rather than a designated vacation. I am a wanderer, and there are so many places for me to yet visit that I am excited to go exploring.
A few weeks ago I stumbled upon Freelee the Banana Girl on YouTube and started learning more about the HCLF diet, and 80/10/10. In response to adjusting for better health, I stocked my kitchen with boxes of fruit, and waited 2-3 days to ripen, then dug in.
What I have experienced is 5 days so far on a HCLF vegan diet that I am loving and challenged by. My desire for oil and refined sugars is still present, as I know it will take time to transition, and my body has started detoxing through break outs on my skin and other such measures... :P
The two greatest outcomes so far have been 1) sleeping soundly, and 2) increased water intake. I started making sure I am drinking 8-20oz of water BEFORE eating anything at any point, and that has really helped me feel a lot more awake. I even pee clear!!
There are challenges I face, though. I am still working to get enough calories, as I know that is an important part of the process. I am feeling very connected to my food, though, and have started making videos of my process in hopes that it can help others who are starting out like I am.

I love Steve Martin, both as an author and as a musician. I am into bluegrass, jazz, classical and techno/electronica music. I am an avid bibliophile and am currently breaking up my fiction stack with Silent Spring (a historical classic and a scare tactic to go green!)
I work retail, which can mean intense and diverse hours, and otherwise run errands for my grandma and myself. Any time that isn't spent maintaining the house or working is spent eating or working out. I run, lift weights, and do yoga. I am a huge proponent of yoga, as I feel it helps align body and mind in such a way that you can function better.

I simply need to be better at meal planning so that I can actually consume enough calories.
I believe in the lifestyle (like I said before, I am already vegan), but I am new to progressively ripening fruit, buying fruit in mass quantity, and physically making the time to consume it all. When I don't eat enough fruit, I feel sluggish and am more likely to gravitate towards quick snacks.
