For purposes of the internet I name myself Free Bird. After moving out on my own a few years ago I watched a documentary on Netflix titled "Vegucated". The images and information on the cruelty where enough to keep me from meat immediately. I began eating a typical Vegan diet. I also watched a few more documentaries (Health Works and Food Matters), however theses tend to promote unnecessary super foods, I didn't know at the time. I fell off the wagon after a year and a bit while on vacation. I was not getting adequate calories and then one day while out to dinner I ordered a burger and fries....I felt so awful, but I kept on eating. After two months of SAD eating. My digestion problems (which never fully healed while eating standard vegan diet) were back and worse. I was experiencing fatigue, bad mood swings, severe PMS/menstruation, and depression. I went on YouTube to try and find some inspiring vegan recipes to get me back on track and feeling better. Eventually I stumbled upon one of Freelee's videos. After one video I was hooked and started looking into 80/10/10, Dr.Mcdougall etc. I watched a couple of Dr.Mcdougall and Garry Yourofsky's lectures and am convinced this is the direction I feel is natural and healthful. I was also introduced to the film Earthlings which greatly reinforced my will power and connection to what is really going on. I love being vegan because it is an active way to positively impact the Earth. I would like to spread the word the those around me. This is why I want to join the 30BaD community. To gain support and knowledge to be able to spread the word and change the lives of those around me.

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are....
I like to read non-fiction on anything I find interesting at the time. Right now reading a couple selections on permaculture ("Vegetable Gardner's guide to Permaculture" by Christopher Shein) and organic gardening.
I enjoy freestyle and hoop dancing in my free time.
