Well Sarah Beth, your Mom rocks too! And you are super sweet yourself!
I think I got the original Gu recipe from organic athlete (youtube vid also)
I cut it down... 1/2 of a banana, 2 stalks celery, and about 8 dates blended with coconut water (not raw, i kno).. I put it in my flask, and I'm good to go..not sure if my ratios are good, might need more dates??? but its workin for me... got me thru my run today, and plenty left for this weeks workouts too..
How is your Mom doing?
Hey Sarah Beth, i also read your post on giving up but i'll let you chew on this:
The first time i tried to do raw, i also gave up. I decided it wasn't for me. Then a few weeks later I was reading a book on health (Eat to Live) and it wasn't even a raw book but something in there "CLICKED" in my head and i went 100% raw the next day and have been ever since. It was crazy. Now its been over 1.5 years.
Do whatever you think is good for you but don't ever label raw as impossible to do in the future. Good luck wherever your path may lead you and always know that we are all here for you if you ever decide to return. =)
Hey Sarah, I just read your post ''I gave up'' and I just wanted to say, do what you think is good for you at the moment. My friend gave up raw too, because she was not ready to transform her life. Food has become her obsession and she was always fighting. Maybe in few months, maybe in few years she will get back at it, maybe not but now she takes the time to reflect on things. Instead of fighting everyday with food (which in my thoughts can damage your ''mental health'' at some point), do what you can and just make healthy choices. I mean, if you are about to eat meat, don't go to Mcdonald please! I know some people will not agree with me... but I can totally understand. I wish you luck!
Hi SB! I like your attitude. For myself, adopting a positive attitude is the number one best thing I can do, and then it seems like everything follows from that. I had the best food today - yum! I hope you did too, and that you have a wonderful weekend :-)
Hi Sarah Beth! Thanks for the friends request. I just read over some of your other blog posts - I came to this from Dr. Fuhrman too. And I got my mom started on that now - so psyched to see her begin to lose weight and get off some of her meds - yay! I think it's a good first step for most of us.
Just a quick note, Sarah, to tell you about an acquaintance of mine who went from 240 to 170 by the "raw raw cooked" transition method we were discussing. She has probably lost even more by now, but the gist of it is, she was not sure she could even lose weight at first with a cooked evening meal, but for whatever reason didn't want to go completely 811rv, and opted for just a "step up" from her former lifestyle. Gosh did it ever transform her. Haven't been in touch with her for over a year so I'd imagine she's lost even more by now, but last I heard she only walked for exercise and last I saw her at her 170 weight it was a night and day difference in her looks and attitude. Don't let anything discourage you. Make tiny changes and applaud yourself as you do.
