Why do people Generalize about other people?

I wonder why people Generalize about other people due to their race color or religion without even giving a fair chance to that new person? Probably its the nature of human beings

"Why do people Generalize about other people"

That, in itself, is a generalisation about other people .....

fruit its not about you, sorry if you thought like that, its my own experience, and its common practice in all cultures. I felt that here all the time even USA claims to equal opportunity society, well i really doubt about it.

I think to some degree it is- it's simpler for people to think about things when they're in categories. People understand things in relation to what they already know, so that they have points of reference to build from. Unfortunately, people don't fit into categories. A lot of humans are just lazy that way- I suppose it's easier to just assume you "know" rather than consider there's a lot you don't. Pity, really. "All you need is love" and all that.

I hadn't even realized I was doing that. I noticed that's what we did in our class I'm taking right now, as we're learning a collectivist style of communicating... but I respect that people are not all the same just because of a shared label for a background or might not want to make the same connections that are always made around those categories... forgive me!
