30 Bananas a Day!

whole foods in chicagoland is losing it's fruity goodness...

I have the inspiration to blog for the first time because i am sooooo sad that whole foods hasn't had organic bananas in stock for 2 weeks now. I guess this is just the beginning of the end (of summer and warm weather). I was also going to pick up figs that they have had in stock for a while but I haven't tried yet. Those were gone also. grrrrr.

Well, this should be a clear sign that I have to force myself to get on the phone and call some organic food suppliers to get the "goods" to my door.

I only took a quick look but the prices look like they cant be beat! It says .50 for bananas each but its got to be a bunch of bananas. I'll call on monday.

Biancs, I visited the meijer store in orland tonight and picked up a weeks worth (or more) of bananas!!! on sale at 59 cents. Ya, I love 30bad!!! Thank you for the recommendation and am so glad you responded to my post.

I called timbercreekorganics.com today they are based in Yorkville,IL and deliver right to your doorstep. They have bananas for 86 cents per pound. They also have fresh dates coming in and they told me their pineapple is still good and is in season. I was surprised to hear that. The pinnapples i get from WF have been horrible as of late. They also have 4 types of pears available. I need to check the cron-o-meter for which has more cals/energy

I also talked to my brother about a csa he just started buying from. They have these mystery boxes you don't know what your getting.... so that probably wont work. Genesis-growers.com

I have one other person i can talk to about wholesaled fruit. I'll let you what I find.

hmmmm, i think there is one in orland park. that is a bit closer to me. those prices sound good. i'll check on those wholesalers this week and let ya know. what Asian market do you go to?

wow. thats far haha.
um the prices are pretty good. you have to scope out the sales. in the summer the watermelons are super cheap and super huge there. Right now i get my organic bananas there for 79 cents a pound i think. they have organic apples right now too. but i havent cchecked the prices yet because i havent bought any. They have organic greeens and celery too. as well as organic herbs(cilantro, basil)
i usually go to trader joes, asian markets and mejier in the winter and fall
i really need to find a wholesaler tho because i heard you get a lot more food for about 30 percent less money. ahh
