30 Bananas a Day!

I've been on the lfrv path for over 20 months now, and due to budgetary constraints have only been eating conventional produce this whole time... I've known about the organic wholesaler Better Life Produce in Los Angeles for over a year now but have never gotten around to ordering from them because they are 60 miles away from home and it's a hard call for me because I already commute hundreds of miles during the week for work..

Well I've finally placed my first order with them and I'm very excited to start eating it all up tomorrow. Here are all the cases of organic produce I will be consuming over the next couple weeks! ;-)

Ataulfo Mangoes (3 cases)

Mangoes (3 cases)

Romaine (24 CT)

Cherry Tomatoes (1 case)

Grape Tomatoes (1 case)

Heirloom Tomato (1 case)

Pineapple (10 CT)

Blueberries (1 case)

Bananas  (1 case)

Total $230

What I ended up doing was just washing and partially drying the heads (I was in a hurry) and then putting two or three into plastic grocery bags with a paper towel in each bag as one of the links suggested.. I also turned the fridge a notch cooler.. I will monitor and see how it goes.,. One of the heads went straight into a banana smoothie and wow! it was good.

I just put "keep greens fresh" into google and read the first handful of results..

yeah, i eat two a day too, so I am hoping they'll last in the fridge for two weeks... I've only ever bought a weeks supply before.. My main concern is that they won't come wrapped in any plastic and I am going to have to figure out how to best store them.... I found some suggestions online so we'll see..

Yeah, the romaine has me a little worried.. Just hoping I can mow it all down before it dies.. I will be pushing it on my wife and kids too... :-)

Some serious chomping to do! But how do you keep your Romaines crispy and green for that long? Or you eat them first ;-)
