30 Bananas a Day!

Walmart teaches us when a banana is ripe and ready to eat!?

I was so hungry after work and I had to run a few errands. I was in a walmart and decided the best snack to have (even if it was grown conventionally) would be a pound of bananas. Luckily, I found a few bunches with brown dots on it.... but, on the banana stand they had three pictures describing when the banana were ripe enough to eat. Here is the third photo with the printed instructions.

The ironic thing is, i had just left a private student's home where the mother said she never eats bananas with brown spots on them because it is too sweet. Well, I would think that is it sweet because it is actually ripe.BTW, these were my first conventional grown bananas since i started this lifestyle 3 weeks ago... not as good as organic... yuk.

I'm at least getting marked down ripe bananas at my local store, Wal-Mart doesn't even do that. Maybe we need to send them letters along with the Chiquita Banana video.

It's unfortunate to think that as soon as bananas are just starting to get ripe there will be an employee dispatched to the banana section to throw them in the trashcan because they're "over ripe". Some stores will put "over ripe" bananas for sale at half off or less to hurry up and get rid of them which is cool, but still kind of sad to think that we seem to be the only ones that realize that spots on bananas means that they are ripe and not that they are going bad.

i dont think I can afford to buy most of my fruits organic but I never cheat on bananas. Ive eaten organic bananas for so long that I dont at all like the taste of conventionally grown. As a matter of fact I bought a bag of cheap-cause-they-were-brown eko-bananas at my low price fruitmarket, most of them were marked but there was a small bundle in the bag missing the sticker. When I later was chowing down a plate of bananas I took a bite that did not taste good to me at all. I figure it was a conventionally grown banana. I threw the rest of it away.
Btw, LOOVE that vidio! Im sharing it!
