30 Bananas a Day!

For the past week, my health has gone downhill right back to almost the same degree that I started at but not quite as bad. My lips are completely covered in blisters, itch, are raw, and just very painful. My acne has started popping up everywhere, not just on my face. My allergies are terrible...I had to wear a mask while doing barn chores this weekend. I've had mucus/phlegm in my throat all week and my throat feels swollen and itchy. And just today, I have been feeling acid reflux-y.

I was doing pretty well and everything was getting better and I was even not wearing makeup because my skin was so great, but now it feels like I'm no where near that. It was only a week ago!

Now, the main change that I have made is relying on dates(from 7hotdates) as my main calorie source since they are easy to take to college with me while I'm there all day. I had added in corn, avocado, and tomatoes, but have cut them out again since all of this has happened, which is why I've come to the conclusion that maybe dates are not my friends.

I don't really know what to do. I've tried soaking the dates to see if that helps, but the results are the same whether they are eaten fresh or soaked. My food choices are down to lettuce, cucumber, banana, sometimes mango(but they are iffy for my lips and allergies), and water. Oh, and bananas aren't really appealing to me, but if I have to eat them more, then I guess I'll just have to get over that.

I feel so unmotivated and just blah. My stomach is bloated all the time and I'm always so tired. I never feel like drinking water either, but I think that's because my throat is partially swollen and it's just uncomfortable.

What should I do? I really need guidance.

Thanks everyone <3

This is what I do, I blend up a smoothie at about 7:30 a.m.  I start drinking some of it at about 10:00 a.m.  I have the rest of it about 1:00 p.m.  I haven't had one turn brown on me yet.  I suspect if I left it until dinner time I might find it had turned brown.

I think keeping it chilled and the lid closed might help.  There isn't a lot of room for air in the bottle.  I also like to mix frozen mango or blueberries in the mix - not just straight bananas - perhaps that helps??

I've also experienced a turnaround/slowdown of sorts since beginning my raw lifestyle, not to mention a very discouraging and unwelcome weight gain. I've just kind of put my head down, kept on with good habits (water, exercise, 80/10/10 lfrv eating) and am holding on until I get the fantastic results that others have achieved. Though at times I ask myself how long I can continue this way, I can tell by the improvements in my energy and digestion/elimination that there are things about this lifestyle that are completely right. I just want you to know that I emphasize with you and would like to encourage you to hang in there.  I'm so glad that you even shared this with this group.  So often when I'm really, really struggling, I just suffer in silence.  Thank you for sharing!!

Thanks everyone for the input and suggestions.

Lisa Dee: I feel that if I make smoothies to take with me, they will turn brown and go bad before I can drink them.  Does the insulated lunch bag plus ice pack keep it from turning brown?

banana boy: I drink 3-5L per day, so about just as many quarts.  I do get outside some, but I have very bad allergies and have to be careful.  Allergies have really made my life terrible since I love being outside and playing with all of my animals (I live on a horse farm), but now I can no longer ride or go near them or any of the animals, except for the pig, without getting hives and sneezing uncontrollably. I normally get to bed by 11 or 12 since I get home from school around 830pm and don't finish making/eating dinner and taking a shower until then.  I try to get to bed early (8/9pm) on days that I don't get home late, but that's only a few days out of the week.

Jaime: Whenever I have tried to eat something cooked, even if it is something like plain vegetables, my conditions get very bad and it's just not worth it to me.

I resort to a big smoothie for taking to work.  It's mostly blended bananas but I can add other fruit, fresh or frozen, like blueberries and some water.  I take a large BPA plastic bottle filled with the smoothie in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pak and I sip on it throughout the day.  It's a bit heavy to take on the bus in the morning, but this way I can stay carbed up.  I have my greens when I get home.

I find smoothies help if you're not the biggest fan of bananas or if your bananas get just a little too ripe for comfortable eating.  I hope this help cause it's the only thing I can suggest.  Good luck!!

A big hug would be kindly accepted! I won't give up. I could never go back to the way my life was before. I just don't really know what else to eat since bananas make me queasy if I eat too many in a day and I don't have much money. Yes, my allergies are terrible! They have taken away so much joy from my life. I used to love apples, but they hurt my stomach now, and pears taste bland to me. I will try to find other fruits though. I plan ok moving to CA one day...I love the west coast! Mono meals sounds like a great idea!

Love your profile pic, btw. So serene! XO

So sorry to hear this Alex! Wish I could give you a BIG HUG! I hope you don't give up.  Don't eat dates if they give you reactions.  Sounds like you have some bad allergies! Do you have access to other types of fruit.  I think apples and pears are in season now.  I know you have to eat a hella lot to get the calories in but you could make lotsa apple sauce! I am lucky to live in CA and have lots of citrus. I get sick of bananas too and need a break from them.  Try other fruit and see how you react.  Maybe do mono meals until you figure out the culprit.... XO
