tendonitis, cever's disease, bike touring

I had to stop bike touring last autumn because my right achilles tendon (which was once in a cast for "cever's disease" about 8 years ago) was killing me. I almost think it had a minor rupture. All I want to do is get back on that bike and travel the world on my own accord, getting fit in the meantime. :^|

Walking is fine, since I havent been cycling it's fine too. It seems like normal. Also, when it started hurting (and creaking, eeew) I was eating a disordered super SAD.

I'm wondering if/hoping that now that I'm eating right, and the tendon at least seems fully healed, maybe I'll have less risk of injury this spring???? I hope so, otherwise I'll have a nice bike for sale.

Thanks Joshua! I'll look into spine straoghtening stuff etc. and hopefully this will be a non-issue when touring time comes around agsin. I'm taking about a year in NH starting this spring. I will be focusing on me, me, me. I'll be raring to go by then!

Chiro's and doctors like to say 'you have a short leg', but that's primarily just a function of one of the hip bones rotated (which pulls a leg bone up [or less frequently, down] or equivalent tilt of the pelvis and/or curve in the spine.

Which has one side take more load/weight/work than the other, affects stride and gait, etc.

I don't know anything about the metaphysical significance, though I'm sure there is some.  Can't separate 'mind' from 'body'.

Thank you all for the he very helpful responses. It seems like throughout my life, my right foot and leg has always been the "bad one". my right shoe always wears out faster... Maybe it's just in my head, but I'm wondering if there is some metaphysical significance of the right leg..?

You may want to focus less on the tendon and more on the muscle and connective tissue connected to the tendon.   The tendon may hurt, but unless it is torn or ruptured, it's just irritated and painful but not the actual source of the problem.  The actual source of the problem is that the muscle and connective tissue to too tight and too short and is constantly pulling on the tendon. Even a gentle pull constant over time will cause irritation.
Maybe you had Sever's disease, maybe the structures attached to your Achilles were just too short and tight and putting too much constant tension on that part of the heel bone and causes pain symptoms that earned you a disease diagnosis from a doctor.
Eat right, and make that lower leg structure less tight (two distinctly different actions).

I'd just say be flexible with yourself... find places in between, just in case, allow yourself all the healing and all the building of strength that you need...dont compromise your values, morals, health to meet some unrealistic goal.  And I only say this because I have been there.  Not biking but hiking/walking and even driving in an unattainable goal of traveling cheaply without tending to my physical and mental health needs...cultivate some patience and allow yourself to slowly attain what you really need for the long time.
