30 Bananas a Day!

I know some people on here might say Chlorella and Nori is not vegan, but I disagree. And I would much rather do food than injections or pharmaceutically synthesized forms of B12 (cyanocobalamin, hydroxocobalamin or methylcobalamin) 

There is now reliable and credible evidence that Nori and Chlorella contain substantial amounts of human active B12!! here are the links, read 'em and weep meat eaters.

 

My fellow vegan and vegetarians,
There are more and more reliable studies coming out to prove that Chlorella and Nori contain reliable amounts of B12 WWOOOOHOOO!!
Spirulina, and all other algae contain too many analogues and will actually make b12 status worse (kelp,dulse, etc)

I knew it all along! 
E3 live as far as I know has improved B12 status in some people, in one or two studies, but it has still yet to be proven concretely!
But I haven't done more research, it may have more studies now...we will see...!!!!!!

Conclusion, ditch the spirulina, and dig the chlorella and nori! (nori has lower iodine levels so it is safe to eat larger amounts!)

Unfortunately, there are no know proofs concer this matter. Lowering raised uMMA levels is an indirect proof but only, if there is no malabsorption. Furthermore, it is dangerous for already deficient people to experiment with their health, since all these natural supplements are not food but processed "materials" and therefore likely to cause further complications. Nevertheless, not deficient people might try it (and no other supplement) and check their uMMA levels every three months to make sure.

In the jungle, you will get much B12 from eating close to the plant source.

Vitamin C is found in a variety of plant foods and in even in raw meat. It's not reliant on any particular food. If I'm in a jungle, I don't have B12 pill nor any seaweed. What then..

Oh I forgot to mention, the bacteria need cobalt, which is usually found in soil but most soil used for farming is now deficient in cobalt. Hence, B12 is a widespread deficiency, even among meat eaters.

The B-12 in food originates in bacteria, yes.  We need that B-12 either way.Re-read the link, it explains that they are not analogues, the second link is a little more clear. Our body is reliant on fruit for Vitamin C, therefore saying being reliant on nori or chlorella for B12 instead of a pill is a weak argument as I am sure you would much rather prefer fresh fruit as a source of vitamin C over Vitamin C pills, no?  Yes our body can recycle B-12 rather efficiently, but not perfectly, and it varies by individual.  I have met  two long term vegans who refused to accept these facts, and who have major nerve and neurological damage (ie. parkinsons) as a result.

Hmm, that's cool. Is the sodium low in nori? Just googled it and amazingly the sodium actually seems low, which is good. Although I disagree with you on it being a "better" b12 source. B12 rich plant foods are rare/nonexistant so switching an inexpensive little pill to be just as dependent on a seaweed I don't see any difference. Now, of course food itself is not the only source of B12, with gut bacteria and soil bacteria being the other sources, and of course most foods' B12's original source IS bacteria.
