Last week I got the brakes on my bike fixed. Turns out that the bike wasn't even put together properly, and I bought it second-hand, so I didn't realise that it was wrong. I got it fixed for $20 which was awesome. The best thing about having brakes is that I can actually stay on my bike now, no walking down the hills anymore.
Yesterday I rode to work (4.5km) and then back home. And I also rode to a friend's place (2.3km) but got a lift home 'cause it got dark. And today I rode to the shopping centre (3.1).
I love riding, to me it's like pure freedom. It is something that I definitely want to keep doing. I reckon it would be pretty cool to still be cycling when I'm like 50 or older! I don't want to get a car, while I'm single I am free to go riding and that is something I am taking advantage of. To me cars are a waste of money, time, energy, worry, and plus the chemicals and fumes they give out must be terrible for the environment. If I seriously wanted to go travelling I can take my bike, you can even take bikes on planes, though it would have to be a light bike otherwise the cost would be shocking, and trains. I don't care if others think I'm weird for riding everywhere, my bike is my number 1 transport, and that I will not so easily give up for anything.
