Instead of studying for the final exam of the course I'm taking this year, I decided to have another go at google searching for wholesalers of fruit and veg. Using slightly different search key words, I did find several in South-Western Germany that I haven't contacted yet and which at least don't state outright that they won't deliver to individuals. I figure the worst that can happen is them turning me down or being unsuitable for some other reason. My quest for cheaper fruit has also led me to discover two supermarkets in the area which most days, have a fruity bargain bin where they sell very ripe fruit. So far, I have seen apples, pears, oranges, melons and bananas being offered there. They sell for one half to one quarter of the normal price. Most supermarkets however donate their very ripe produce along with other products about to expire to the local charity supermarket which sells the donated products at vastly reduced prices. Although I do receive government assistance as a disabled person, as far as I know, I'm not eligible to shop there. Worthy endeavor which I certainly approve of, but it does reduce my chances of being able to buy fruit at a discount.
