I guess I just wanted to do a little intro. Basically, 3 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed with Lupus. In that time I was given loads of meds, including those buggers, catabolic corticosteroids. Coz of those things I went from a fairly healthy 64kg, to 90kg, from all of the water retention, and the swelling (edema) caused by the lupus :(
Last May I stumbled onto this lifestyle, and I knew it was the answer! After doing all of this research, I realise that being a HCRV makes sense, and its my sure way of getting back to optimum health! I switched to the lifestyle, and overcame my depression, and lost 10kg :)
But unfortunately, for whatever reason, my Lupus wasn't in tune. In December just gone, my kidneys got a lot worse. I'm on the highest dose of steroids, and I've gained back all that weight and then some, in water. Seriously, my face is double the size of a normal person. I can store things in my cheeks.
But its not that the lifestyle didn't work. The way that Lupus is, it was already worsening, and just a couple of months of HCRV wasn't going to reverse the effects of my lifelong chronic illness. These things take time. This lifestyle WILL work.
I had to come back from uni, and with no funds to keep me going, aka money for food, I haven't been able to keep up my lifestyle. The family is little to no help- they want me to have "all my strength" to fight the disease, and they don't want me getting a "calcium or B12 deficiency" and of course the classic "but...protein?".
But I know I've found the answer, and I'm now going to implement this lifestyle properly. I think the worst thing about all this is that I'm doing everything right, but I still look like a lard-arse who eats a tonne and does no exercise!
I'm only 19, and the last almost-4-years of my life have been hell. But you know something? the only way is up :)
lots of love
