30 Bananas a Day!

I just watched COSMOS: The Shores of the Cosmic Ocean. It's a one hour movie/documentary(?) about the universe, our galaxy, and our earth.

What stood out to me the most was at the end when Carl really drove home the fact that humans have only inhabited this earth for an unimaginably short time. It really got me thinking...if in this short period of time, humans have gotten this far (100 years ago we had dirt roads and horses driving us around, now we're flying robots to mars...), what we are truly capable of achieving is, quiet literally, ANYTHING!

With the help of 811 I've already achieved unimaginable things in less than a year! I am setting my goals higher than ever now and dreaming bigger than BIG :D

Care to join me?

Start watching @ 3:00 and Carl will help you comprehend just how short of a time we've been on this planet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVl_q5NUY5U&feature=related

Think of all the things that still haven't been achieved, all the records that are yet to be broken. Make it your duty to achieve the things you want, and break the records that are waiting for you.

Just decide to do, then do it!!

Chow for now

I Love these replies!

CB, I set a lot of goals when I started 811, and so far I've achieved many of them: clear skin (once and for all!), white teeth, it's now IMPOSSIBLE to get annoyed/irritated, I ran my first half marathon in 1hr33min, I've done 2 half ironmans and am now in training for a full ironman (future goal is to become a professional triathlete), I always have an abundance of fresh fruit, I've set an example with dietary habits that have caused 4 people that are very close to me to follow my path, and I am "working" my dream job as a personal trainer :) (future goal is to open a training studio)

Thanks for sharing Cimarron, I watched both of them and really glad I did! I never imagined that currently, 20,000 species are going extinct each year :o I'm going to watch all of those videos now...

Jessica, I ended up watching Cosmos after reading your movie list on your profile haha

Alix, I'll read your post and get back to you!

Could you share some please? It's always inspirational to hear how the lifestyle has helped in other areas of life... Thank you.. :) CB

Sweet!

Hey if you love that, you may also be interested in Brian Swimme's work. He's a mathematical cosmologist.

That's a video on how we understand ourselves as humans

And if you're interested in thinking in new ways about our worldwide crises, this is a great little snip:

Anything is possible within the laws of the universe.

Hey you should check out one of my recent blog posts. It is very similar to what you are talking about. I am actually studying physics, and Carl Sagan has been a huge influence in my life.

Here's the blog link:

Ok Yeah I dont think he is negative- he is actually trying to get the info out there- but I know what you mean about not focussing on negativity. But I dont think that is what I was doing..

Thanks Cucumber for your reply. I was already aware of this sort of withheld technology and the fact that patents are being bought out so that people can keep making money using out dated technology. However, I don't like giving too much attention to that kind of stuff so instead I do what you mentioned: go low tech!

I may or may not watch that vid in the future, but for now I don't wanna give my attention to any sort of negativity :)

For the most part, I think humans should focus on what we want, not what we don't want!

Yeah this is so true.. It's a matter of being able to do things without outside interference. There have been a lot of solutions to our problems. But there are a lot of people making money off of not implementing or creating technologies that are positive. The best approach is going low tech and this can't be taken away to a certain degree- that is why it is so great that epople here are doing what they are doing.

This is a video that talks about similar stuff but it's kind of hard to watch. But it's the same kind of idea- that we already have everything we need- there are people who try to stop this though because they are making too much money from industries of death.
