I just heard a doctor say restrict intake of fruit - she should meet Freelee

I just heard a doctor on a popular talk show say that we should restrict intake of fruit - eat little of it because it can cause weight gain due to sugar content.  Ironically, she didn't look all that slim herself.  She should meet Freelee :-)  

I've heard statements like this below and it's very confusing when "experts" are telling people that eating fruit is almost as bad as eating candy (the particular doctor I saw on TV today didn't say this, but I've heard "experts" say this in the past).

That's TV alright.  These fool doctors are over-stepping their expertise, and buying into diet-BS they hear.  They should know better than to buy into this propaganda that SUDDENLY it's carbs that are causing weight gain.  Makes no sense when the general belief is that CALORIES cause weight gain (which is ALSO wrong).

Well find fruit you enjoy if possible.  Keep going and loosing!  I'm right behind and need to improve my health away from coughs and mucus.

@Paul - I guess we all just need to find what works for us :-)  For almost a week, I've been eating both fruits and vegetables, but mostly fruits (and a few nuts and seeds), and have already lost 5 Lbs this week.  I've been lifting weights and doing cardio, too.  It's probably mostly water, but I'm okay with that :-)  The scale had just come to a complete stop before this week.   Just throwing a bunch of frozen bananas in the blender with water and making what seems to be a tasty ice cream shake has been an especially nice treat.

Me too, on the radio an NHS dietician, says don't have big fruit meals, and the other night she said make your 5 a day be mostly vegetables.  She didn't dies veganism which is positive.
