I finally checked my mailbox yesterday and there was The 80/10/10 Diet waiting for me. I was so excited I immediately started reading it and have completed all the chapters and am working through the appendixes. Whenever I read a book for informational purposes I like to read it from cover to cover first and then go back and re-read the most compelling parts multiple times.
Anyway, before getting this book I though I could glean whatever information was in it from reading forums, watching youtube videos, and google searches, and I did learn a lot that way. However there were some critical pieces of the puzzle that were missing for me that were cleared up after reading the book. For example,I learned that consuming cooked/high fat food will negatively impact digestion of the next meal, even if it is 12-24 hours later. After realizing this, I have a much stronger incentive to not consume cooked food, I don't want to have a low-energy blah day tommorrow, because of what I had for dinner tonight!
So feeling a renewed since of commitment to practicing lfrv 100%, I went to a farm to market store today and picked up lots of great stuff and was so happy about the low prices, 4 lbs bags of organic valencia oranges for $2.50! 1000 calorie watermelons for $2.99! 8 large bananas (in a bunch) for $1.50, I got a whole box!
Also, I managed to get my husband to watch the first 5 minutes of the video "Why I Hate Vegans" posted by durianrider, he wouldn't watch it all. But he was disturbed enough by what he saw to tell me that he will no longer eat meat. He still eats fish and shrimp, but in due time with exposure to the truth I am certain he will give that up too. Even though he appears to be very stubborn and very difficult to influence, I am persistent and overly optimistic (someone else described me this way, "delusionally optimistic" they said). I KNOW he will eventually come around, how could he not?
