Hi everyone! I am writing because I am seriously desperate about improving my acne prone skin and I'm hoping someone out there can help me out.
(I apologize in advance for the long message :)
A little background about myself. I am a 22 year old female, 4' 11'' with mild acne and mild rosacea who became vegan over a year ago. I initially became vegan in order to clear my skin (which was far better than it is right now). I followed rawtil4 for a few months and in the initial first weeks, my skin looked great! Throughout the rest of the year, my skin had ups and downs. Some days were great, others were terrible and I could never pinpoint what it was. I spent hours researching and researching. At this rate, it couldn't still be detox, and I was also eating plenty of greens, drinking 3L of water a day, exercising regularly, sleeping at least 8 hours a night, and eating very little fat, and of course, no oil, etc. My skin never increasingly got better, every day was a different story.
After months of following rawtil4, I noticed that after I would eat cooked food for dinner, my face would become inflamed, even if the food was cold, and the next day I would see a few new pimples. I decided that maybe the cooked food was giving me a problem and I would give fully raw a try. I adopted an 80/10/10 diet, eating mainly fruits throughout the day with a big green salad for dinner, making sure to incorporate my greens. I have been doing this for 3 weeks, almost a month now.
Here's where things get complicated. I noticed that adopting a fruit based diet really calmed my rosacea and it was a lot less red and I was really happy about that. However, my acne seemed to flare up, especially on my forehead with little tiny bumps. I am still unsure if this could be detox, maybe im not eating enough greens,or not getting in enough calories, but I'm definitely drinking a lot more. But after I eat a big fruit meal, my skin seems to be sooo oily! Im barely eating at overt fats, maybe thats the problem? I also read that some people have high triglycerides, and this may be why the fruit is causing me to breakout? At the same time, I am noticing that I have a lot of dandruff, and to me, this sounds like candida, which i don't believe i had before starting this journey.
And whats weird is that when I ate cooked food, my acne seemed to be a lot better, but the rosacea would get worse, even if i was eating something simple like plain oatmeal or whole grain rice with veggies. And with the fruit, the rosacea is fine, but the acne pops up.
If there is anyone out there who may know what I can do, I would be extremely grateful bc having acne and rosacea at the same time is really hard and terrible for my self-esteem and confidence. I would love if someone could give me some advice :)
