Hello banana addicts,
today post will be about hiking. Hiking is an awesome outdoor activity that doesn´t require much fitness unless your goal is to hike up very high mountains.
Popularity Of Hiking
Generally hiking is quite popular because everyone can walk up the hill at their own pace. You are outside in nature, I would say that hiking is the most natural activity as it can get. Therefore more tips are only benefitial for everyone.
How Much To Hike?
Most people would like to know how much they should hike. Well as my previous recommendation for fitness are at the beginning you shouldn´t do more than 30 minutes 3 times a week of continous exercise. Therefore for total beginners in hiking I don´t recommend a hike that is more than 2 hours per week.
After you can upgrade the distance by about 10% each week. If you do too much at once at the beginning, you will hate hiking for the rest of your life, because your feet simply wouldn´t take that much pressure.
Food And Water
Now let´s get into food and water. The best is to have the lightest backpack as possible so you save your energy and can go longer distance. However you still wanna make sure you have enough carbohydrate calories and enough water so you will pee clear every time.
How Much Water To Bring?
The general recommendation for water is to drink at least 700ml of water each hour or more if it´s warm. This adds up to around 1,5 litre per 2 hours, 3 litres per 4 hours, 4,5 litres per 6 hours and so on. However you may need more or less deoending on your weight, energy output, temperature etc.
The best is to look or ask somebody for streams along the way so you can fill up your bottles again so you don´t have to carry so much weight on you, especially if you are going for all day hike if you are at that level. Make surethe streams are drinkable thou.
How Much Food To Bring?
Another big thing people ask often is how much food to eat and what food to bring. The best rule is to bring the lightest food with highest amount of calories. Dates are probably the lightest healthiest food possible. You need around 1 kg of medjool dates and you are good for the day. Raisins are good too. Just make sure you bring enough calories so you don´t get undercarbed. It´s always better to bring more and bring the rest home than bring less.
Other Food Options
Recently I experimented with carrying bananas because I don´t have an access to good dried fruit or dates. For me it was just extra workout. We went for 4 hours hike and it was not a big obstacle. I was carrying some in a bag in my hand and the rest in my back pack. However few bananas got little bit smashed. For me it worked, however for more than 4 hours I would probably make a water plus cane sugar which is a light and calorie dense drink, you can dilute up to 500g of sugar in 1 litre of water, depending how sweet you want it.
So there you go this are my 3 biggest tips for hiking. I will talk definitely more about hiking in the future with more tips as it´s one of my favourite activities. Furthermore to enjoy hiking and free time more often, creating passsive income is an excellent opportunity to do so. Empower Network enabled many people to start living their lifestyles instead of having to spend each day in meaningless job.
