Help Harley & Freelee, i'm putting on weight :(

I have been following the lfrv lifestyle since the start of the year. This past month I have found that I am putting on weight on my belly :( I am approx 90%-95% raw. I go to the gym 4 times a week, plus ride my bike to and from the gym, I do a lot of walking as well & I also have a 2 year old son who keeps me very busy.

Just after any insight on this issue as I am really conscious when I go to the gym now coz I'm bigger than when I started :( I currently weigh around 54.5kg. I have put on approx 3-4kg, (This is since the start of the year).

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful feedback. To answer the salt question, I don't have any salt, so it definently isn't that. It must be the BC as everyone is saying. I will continue to be consistent and can't wait to see the wonderful results!

Wow! I never knew stopping BC could cause weight gain but it makes so much sense as its exactly whats been happenning to me for the past 2 years (I am only recently beginning to get to grips with the raw diet and subsequently losing weight.) Lucky for you you seem to have the raw diet down already so hopefully that will go a long way towards helping your body sort itself out soon enough. How rotten is it that we don't realise how rotten those pills truely are until they leave us!

Hey Belinda, I noticed something similar when I gave up BC in April last year.... I actually think my body proportions changed a bit so the same thing could be happening to you. One month really isn't all that long btw, depending on how long you were on BC. Are you tracking your measurements as well as the scale weight? Also I agree with the other suggestions to stay away from salt etc. :)

IMO looks like too much salt in the body.  I know if I eat salt, I blow up because of the water retention.

I 100% guarantee you its from stopping BC pills, if you only started gaining weight after stopping them.... same thing happened to me a few years ago when i went off BC for the first time since i was a teen. wham gained 12 lbs in a month, even though i was very active and didn't change anything about my diet. it's hormonal and a ton of women go thru it!! google "weight gain after stopping birth control" and you'll see more websites than you'll ever have time to read. some women gain weight when they start BC, others gain as soon as they stop.... has something to do with progesterone i think. it's a hormone that triggers fat storage- your body is probably making too much of it right now, after having it regulated through BC for a while. that's my guess anyway. it probably has zero to do with anything you're eating right now!!

I really am hoping this is the case then!! It is quite coincidental isn't it :) I will take another photo in a few weeks time and see how it is all going. I feel a hell of a lot better now that I have finally rid the last pill that my body will ever have to process :)

um, i reckon your answer is stopping the BC pills! Your body will be adjusting to the shift back to your own hormonal levels and it may take a while but your body now has a chance to even out and be healthy. Enjoy!

Hi CanCan thankyou so much for posting on my blog. I'm still fitting into the same size clothes so I haven't gained to the extent of having to up a dress size. Funnily enough I made the decision to stop B/C a month ago!!! I am due for a period this week so my tummy is a bit bloated because of this. These photos were taken about a week and a half ago. The past month has been the first month since the start of the year that I have been able to up the rawness. I have been eating up to 30 bananas a day and rarely eating cooked carbs. I will ONLY eat brown rice, potatoes or gluten free pasta if the funds have run out to buy more bananas, dates etc.

I have been raw since January as well, and same as you about a month ago I started having a bloated stomach (I don't know about weight gain, if it was, very negligible b/c all clothing still fit the same). I seem to be coming back to normal now.

Anyway I decided maybe it is related to my period? Are you on birth control pills? Sorry if that is too intrusive, but I always felt BC caused weight gain around the middle. When I stopped I had some really scary, heavy, frequent cycles for a time.
