Wow, I really can't believe that it's been over a year since I stopped eating 80-10-10 and went back to cooked vegetarian. I just read over my posts and comments from then and it's amazing what a different person I am when I'm eating fruits and veggies. Much happier, that's for sure!
A couple of weeks ago, I was really feeling down and disappointed in myself for not keeping this lifestyle up, when I got an email from my friend Karen Ranzi that she was hosting Doug Graham at her house. I haven't been to her place to see any speakers in awhile, but something drew me to go see Doug. It was so amazing to meet him in person and hear him speak. I'm really glad that I went and it inspired me to give this lifestyle another try.
Two years ago when I was eating this way, I lost 10bs, had so much more energy, got rid of brain fog, my skin cleared up, and life just seemed sunnier. :) I loved to workout and would run/walk for about 6 miles a day or more. One work related incident brought me more stress than I could handle at the time, and a few crackers later my diet started going downhill. I gained the weight back and now I just feel so sluggish and depressed. And I never feel like exercising anymore. I was dealing with it for awhile (too long actually) but then just reached the point where I was so uncomfortable and knew that I needed to make a change, so here I am!
I'm hoping that by keeping this blog I can stay on track and I'm excited to be a part of this community again to give and get support to stay with this lifestyle for good. For motivation, I've been watching lots of videos from Harley, Freelee and ones from the Woodstock Fruit Festival. Since I live so close in NJ, I'm really hoping to be able to attend next year. I also signed up for a 5 mile run on Thanksgiving so that I will have something to train for.
Yesterday my husband bought me a case of bananas and over the weekend I want to go out to get some more fruit and lots of greens. I was really tempted to just dive back in today but I decided to start again on Monday because I have a wedding tomorrow and going out for my husband's brother's birthday on Sunday. Normally I would be fine eating fruit and salad, but I know that in the beginning I really need to avoid going out for a bit until I get back on track. Plus I need a little time for the bananas to get ripe. If there is one thing I learned the first time around is to be prepared with plenty of fruit! I do plan to keep it light for the next couple of days though to give my digestion a break and then it's lots of fruit; I'm so excited!!!!!
