30 Bananas a Day!

I find it so very satisfying getting in the soil.
Today, I needed to put some baby Avocados and Jackfruit into pots. It is wonderful to be able to just walk down the garden to the compost bin and get out loads of thick, dark, rich, ALIVE compost.
It is a whole beautiful world going on in there:
worms, beetles, microbes and one beauty toad.

See if you can spot him hiding in the compost bin, which is his home.

LIVE life! It is happening!
I love looking at this live organic matter(and getting my hands in it—nice for the skin) that just seven months ago was my fruit scraps.
It is good to be able to eat a food, no part of which needs to end up in a landfill site—but the scraps may be composted and a few months later used to plant more fruit trees.

Dear Topsalud,
Thank you for your comment and questions.

I do not mind fruitflies in the compost bin, but because it has a lid on it, they tend to prefer the second composting site, which is open.
We also get a lot of small, black beetles in the compost.

I do not mix the compost. Due to the heat and rain, everything seems to break down pretty quickly (except Avocado stones).

I do not add water or soil.

Yes, I use the compost at the bottom, there are little doors to let the compost out.

Yes, the bottom of the cube is in contact with the earth.

There is ventilation in the compost bin. We had a whole family of Rats living in there a few months ago; really cute little babies and Mom.

Wishing you a Beautiful Day.
Love and Peaches,
from Anne XX.

Lovely! Just a question....would you happen to know which fruit trees are the fastest in producing fruit? I'm moving to SW florida soon and I want to get started asap on our orchard :)

How cute, makes me think of Jeremiah, my son's late bullfrog.
