30 Bananas a Day!

Today I struggled. After a year of being vegan, I've realized I have no outlet for my vegan thoughts and feelings. I don't have any like-minded friends to discuss issues with or express my emotions and angers. I'm getting so fed up with meat eaters. I'm tired of constantly being told, "you need to eat some bacon", "I tried to be vegetarian for a day...", "I could never be vegan! I love cheese too much", or "But, don't you like chicken?". Meat eaters literally said all of these things to me just today! I know that I'm supposed to be able to take it. To be able to laugh these comments off as a joke. But I am just so tired of it! In my opinion: it's bullying. Gee, I tired to be an herbivore for 15 years but then decided I didn't want to unnecessarily abuse and kill animals. I just need someone in my life who I can agree with. Someone who shares my thoughts and feelings and builds on them. I know that this site is full of people who go through the exact same things daily, but an online friend honestly wouldn't be the same as someone I could see daily. I want someone I can go to after a long day and we can laugh about all the stupid things animal abusers said to us today. Someone who can cry with me in mourning of all the innocent animals and scream about how ****** up our society is. I just need a friend.

I feel you, all of my "friends" are animal abusers, so I don't really have anyone to reach out too. Im noticing that a lot of us on here are in this situation, I wish we weren't all so far apart :/

I was thinking about maybe starting a vegan club in my area, i'm not sure how, but I think its worth at least trying.

What helps me personally the most to see some hope in humans is to listen to really nice music!!

check out Grimes MGMT and Youth Lagoon if you think you would like to :)

Oh also, I know this isn't totally practical, but try to get really good at dreaming, because you can overcome a lot of emotional stuff in you're dreams and have some over all really amazing experiences.

Loneliness is how we find our true selves, Erin. Look inside yourself to see the great things you have achieved and the compassion you have for other living beings. Don't let the madness of the outside world affect you, because your mind is precious! If you're feeling lonely, find a peaceful place in your mind where you can remember there are people out that believe in veganism as much as you do.

I understand completely, this is literally exactly how I feel. I usually live by myself but as I´m only 16 I decided to invite a room mate in for a month or two . I cannot stand it having milk in my fridge , eggs on my shelf and a leather bag hanging of my door. I love this girl that is staying with me and she is really funny but I can´t help but be infinitely disappointed and disgusted by her behaviour. I wish I could find a vegan friend but I live in Portugal and due to the rather traditional mind-set and lack of alternatives, there are less vegans than say America or England. I sometimes feel so alone in the world when I can´t even relate to my own mother or even m best friend. It has been dragging me down for about two years now and I don´t know what to do. Sorry I don´t have any amazing suggestions as to what to do, but I have found that this website has helped considerably as it frequently shows me I am not alone. xx

Erin, You should be very proud of yourself!!. I had a vegan friend from the beginning. But it has been almost 7 months since I last hung out with another vegan. Going to the thai fruit fest would be my number 1 suggestion to connect with like minded people. otherwise maybe visit vegan cafes and restaurants, maybe even ask for part time work there and make new friends? I'm not sure what your situation is in life but I believe you will find real connection :)

Unfortunately this is prolly a common problem. Mum and I have each other, everyone else gives us a hard time. On the rare occasion we have met other vegans it has been an absolute pleasure :D To be able to relate to another on a subject so fundamental to your whole life is unbelievable. I feel utterly compelled to hi-five them and congratulate them on their fine choices. I can understand your frustration and needs...hang in there girlfriend...the world will be vegan soon! We will make it happen <3

I feel ya. Do you have an instagram? It sounds kinda silly but there are plenty of users dedicated to what vegans go through and what not :). My favorite is thatveganaussiebloke. There's some others like 416vegan, and some more....but my phone has been lost for a few days now so I can't give you more than those few. But even though it's not the same as having someone in real life there with you, it can still be very helpful.

My sister came up to visit last weekend with her boyfriend and he berated me constantly about veganism, it drove me nuts; at one point I got up and left the room to cry. But all that weekend I had no phone so I couldn't go to instagram to sort of 'get away from it all'. It's really relieving to have a place where you can share your experiences with other like minded people who accept you ya know?

I'm always saying I want a vegan boyfriend and it's funny because everyone says "Yeah it would be nice to have someone with the same eating habits." But it's so so so much more than that! It's someone who understands the impact of daily choices, someone who understands what animals go through...someone who supports me as a vegan.

I've been vegan for about 2 years and 2 months and I hate to say it but I only feel more lonely, I haven't really made any vegan friends in real life. There aren't really many in my area. But instagram/tumblr can be lifesavers, or really any positive vegan online community. I know it's not the same as a friend in real life but at least it's a place where you can vent to like minded people.

You might be luckier than me though! You never know! One of us could make a new vegan friend tomorrow, you never know :)
