30 Bananas a Day!

So once again I am trying to commit fully to 801010 (I have been dabbling with this since Jan). Recently I have been eating a "high raw" diet, mostly vegan. With the occasional dairy product thrown in there. I have a hard time allowing myself to consume any cooked foods, because it just seems like a slippery slope. I'd rather just cut it out for the time being. I can say since the beginning of the year I have lost 5 pounds, eliminated any binge type behaviors, stopped drinking pop (haaaaaaaate the taste of diet dr. pepper), and picked up yoga!

I am trying really hard to stick it out for the health of those around me. My Dad is willing to try the diet/lifestyle, and I have sent him a copy of 801010. My husband is thinking of becoming a vegetarian too. But I need to be a good role model! I have also decided to cut the coffee, because I found out it may contain trace acrylimides (spelling?) which is a toxic byproduct of certain cooked foods! YUCK! I have been drinking a serving of green tea over the last two days, but will nix that too.

I am back in NC with my husband, and he will be on vacation next week. I am looking forward to some quality family time! Yesterday, I picked up a bunch of personal watermelons from whole foods. I have never had organic melon --- so I am too excited to try them. They cost about 4.99 each, and I got a discount because I bought a lot. I will be eating watermelons all day long! I have some frozen bananas if I want to enjoy a smoothie. For dinner, I will be keeping it plain with a just a bed of romaine, chopped tomatoes, and the juice of a lemon. I also have assorted seeds/nuts if I want to jazz it up. I hope to continue eating melons and greens for the rest of the season. I truly could just eat watermelons all year long, and be totally happy. I feel so good on them!

I received my vitashine vitamin D spray in the mail yesterday, because I am deficient (have been for quite some time!). My B12 levels are around 700ish (I was vegetarian for a long time), and I will start to supplement that too, in about a month.

In other areas of my life --- I am getting ready to start back at work. My husband and I have done a lot of spring cleaning and will be splitting the house duties. We have been working on making time to connect as a family too. Which is great! I am also working on cleaning up my son's diet by eliminating fast food, meat, and any processed products. He typically eats oatmeal for breakfast, and I am switching him to fresh fruit and organic oatmeal. He already eats a large portion of fruit with most of his meals.

Wow, Lala!  You are doing awesome.  And how cool that your hubby is going to try out vegetarianism!  Our kids really follow what we are doing, even if they are influenced by society-at-large and their friends, really what you do at home consistently are the habits your kids pick up.  At least that's what I've found with my own kids.  So way to go, Mama.
