Raw foods characteristically do not have a lot of trans and saturated fats, as in comparison to the majority of cooked foods, particularly fast food, junk food and any other processed foods.

In fact, increased use of raw foods in your diet reduces both cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the body, some of the main indicators for heart disease, obesity & hypertension.

     A raw food diet typically involves much less packaging and less use of energy sources for cooking, thus creating the close to ideal resolution for ecological consumption.  Organic raw foods do not generally come in cans or plastic, consequently reducing our ingestion of the dangerous chemicals that can be ingested through canned and packaged containers.  In essence an increased raw food diet is the most advantageous beneficial diet for individuals and the planet all together.

     If you are just starting to eat more raw fruits and vegetables, make sure to buy only organic or locally grown, since many of the contaminants present in non-organic foods, such as pesticides, will not be eliminated with raw eating. In addition, steer clear of eating raw animal protein, as it can be a host to a broad array of bacteria and parasites.
