After falling off the fruity wagon last week (most likely due to not eating enough calories in the time before my period), I'm back to my fruit munching ways since this weekend. Money is still tight, especially since I just spent €300 to stock up on dates, 30kg all in all, plus 3kg of dried apricots and some nuts and seeds. All that was delivered earlier today and I spent the better part of my morning puttering around the basement in order to find storage space for all the goodies.
I also got a delivery from the organic green grocer, supplying me with tomatoes, arugula, kale and plus some other greens as well. Plus plenty of root veggies for my mother, who asked me to get her some since I was already receiving a delivery. Provided I can get my hands on enough bananas and persimmons (and perhaps even some mangoes) at the supermarket, I shouldn't run out of food again in the next few days.
My own kale from the garden seems ready to pick as well. We've had temperatures below freezing now a few nights in a row, something which kale allegedly needs to taste good, at least according to the woman at the market who sold me the seedlings last summer.
Otherwise, I'm keeping pretty busy what with grad school and NaNoWriMo this month. When I'm properly carbed up, the writing goes much, much easier and I don't feel like taking a nap all the time. So, fruit FTW!
