30 Bananas a Day!

Okay so I'll start this off by giving a bit of a background. I am a Canadian and have been living in Australia for over a year. In this time I have become a high carb low fat vegan and I eat heaps of fruit, I try to be raw til 4 as much as possible and honestly have never felt better eating this way. So yea, I came home to visit my family for a few weeks the other day and they are all meat eaters. I have tried a few times being overseas to send my parents vidoes and studies showing why eating meat is harming them and the planet but they just dont seem to care. I am only home for a bit so i decided i should just bite my tongue and enjoy the time here eating what i want and letting them live how they want. Until last night, my dad decided to confront me and say he is worried for me and my health and thinks I am going to develop diabetes from all of the sugars I am eating everyday. It all happened so quick and i felt like i knew how to argue back but he is so brainwashed that there was no winning so i just gave up. Can anyone give me a little more information on why animal products are the thing giving us type 2 diabetes and cancer and a fruit diet actually reverses these things. I feel like I have a pretty good understanding now because i spent all last night after researching but i want to calmly explain to my father out of love why he is wrong about this and hopefully shine some more light on the topic.

I totally understand what you're going through. My parents are the same as well. They came to the US for a holiday and found out I was vegan. At first they were confused, and they they kind of accepted, until they read about posts why the vegan diet cannot work for everybody, and then they got worried. Like what Durianrider always say "It's easier to fool someone than to convince them that they are fooled". Not to put down your parents or my parents, but the majority of people just don't see it. They don't make that connection. They don't see how their food choices are screwing up the planet. They don't see how their food choices are hurting beings in general. It's years and years of conditioning. 

It's frustrating, I know. If you really want them to listen, then lead by example. Live as hard as you can while on the vegan diet. Live your purpose every single day. But if you also want to calmly talk to your parents about it, tell it how it is that you read, and what you believe it.
