30 Bananas a Day!

I drink loads of living coco water. As in I collect cocos and drink them myself... I find them so refreshing in the AM. I call it my internal shower :)

In the comments on a recent DR video some people were saying that coco water is to high in fat...and wanted to hear your thoughts on the nutrient breakdown of coco water and if any of you also feel it is too high in fat? Also, your thoughts on drinking coco water during endurance training?

here is the breakdown:

Sheepmobil, thx for the input. The sodium had not crossed my mind.

Regarding the flesh of the cocos, I don't really eat it all that often but when I do I blend it with coco water into a sort of creamy milk and then pour it over some rather tangy berries such as black berries. Blues berries are good as well. I know this is not ideal but its an amazing desert and you'd be surprised how many berries you can eat this way. I've packed away pounds of black n blue berries doing this.

Other than that and an occasional bite when I'm feeling it, I like to make my own coconut oil, or shred it, dehydrate it into flakes. With the flakes you can make coconut butter by whipping it up in the vita or blend tec. That aside it just hits the compost pile...

Oh, you are lucky to be able to collect coconuts where you live!

Anyhow, based on the nutrient info you linked to, 8.7% of calories in coconut water come from fat, which, IMO, is not ideal but still okay, especially if you also eat lots of food with lower percentage of calories from fat such as fruit.

However, I would be more worried about excess sodium when drinking lots of coconut water.

Also, just because I'm curious, what do you do with the flesh of the coconuts? Even though immature coconuts have little flesh, I never know what to do with it. I don't want to blend it with fruit for food combining reasons, but I don't want to just throw it in the compost since coconuts are so darn expensive here :-/
