Hello fellow fruitarians,

today I would like to answer simple question is it possible to be totally healthy without not being fit?

What Does Being Fit Mean?

Being fit in my opinion means to be able to keep doing various activities for at least 30 minutes continuously at talking pace. Strength training doesn´t count because it´s not endurance activity. Endurance activities are activities where you have to use your lungs and oxygen non-stop for at least 30 minutes.

What About Weight Lifting?

Lifting weights doesn´t really require much oxygen unless you lift lighter weights with too many repetitions. However this personally can be quite boring, I like to lift heavy weights only few times once in a while. Sprinting short distances is the same, you don´t need much oxygen to perform it and therefore it´s classified as anaerobic exercise.

What Activities Are Endurance Activities?

Endurance aerobic exercises involve activities such as running, cycling, swimming, rowing, hiking up the hill, cross-country skiing and pretty much any activity where you are using your cardiovascular system continuously for at least 30 minutes.

Why Is It Important To Do These Activities?

Now that you understand what the endurance activities are I am gonna explain why are they so important to do. When you are doing these activities you are using your lymphatic system and pumping it up. By doing this you are removing the toxins that has been accumulated in this system.

Pumping The Lymphatic System To Be Fit

And even after you finish your activity the lymphatic system will keep working on removing the toxins out such as excess sodium, fat, protein and other substances. Of course if you eat very clean you will have much less toxins but they still need to be removed.

Blood Circulation

When you do endurance activities you have also better blood circulation to your organs, and therefore better oxygen delivery. If you wanna think clearly keep on moving your body. Also you heart needs to be pumped up regularly to get stronger and function properly.

What To Do If You Are New To Fitness?

Also when you start up with some endurance activity it is best to choose walking or cycling as running can be too stressful on your knees especially if you are overweight. At the beginning 30 minutes 3 times a week is enough and then you can increase it by 10% each week.

Avoid Over-Training At The Beginning

And high intensity interval training is only for those who are experienced at least 2 years, otherwise you are risking over training and injury. Therefore you should keep your intensity at talking pace at the beginning.

Motivation To Be Consistent?

What about motivation to keep on doing this activities consistently? First of all you need to do something that you ENJOY not to do it just because it´s healthy. The good way to do it is to find a social group that is into same activity as you. They will push just that extra bit to make it more interesting and fun. Of course it´s not good to train with people who are much better than you because again you are risking overtraining which will decrease your motivation.
