30 Bananas a Day!

I'm sure you guys have noticed, if you live in the US conventional bananas are 2/3 the price of organic. I currently by organic, but since after watching DRs videos, I am convinced I need to up my calorie count to 5000 plus. I keep fizzling out because I'm not getting in enough carbs! To up my count, I could go to either grains or conventional bananas. Anyone want to weigh in?

I agree with others in that I notice a taste difference with conventional bananas...however, grains are just awful. If conv bananas vs. grains were really the only two choices I had, I'd go with the bananas. Try it and see how you go. If it doesn't work out could you do potatoes or squash instead of grains?

agree with datetarian... because we eat such high volumes of fruits I think it makes it so much more important to eat organic.  If we eat exponentially more conventional bananas than the average person, then we eat exponentially more pesticides, etc. than them as well.  

Plus, bananas are one of the fruits that I actually can tell a difference in taste between organic and conventional.  I can hardly swallow the conventional ones now, after chewing for a few seconds I just get nauseous.

I have difficulty getting good quality organic bananas.  They are almost always neon green and often don't ripen.  So I eat commercial so I don't get stranded without sufficient bananas.  I eat 8-16 every day, sometimes more, for almost 3 years and haven't felt bad effects yet.  My dates, greens and occasional other fruits are organic.

If you want to up your calories on a fruity diet while staying in a price range consider adding sugar to your smoothies.

I highly prefer organic just because they taste so much better.  I think conventional are better than nothing but that 1/3 of a price more is well worth it.

I agree with datetarian than I can taste (or at least smell) the chemicals in conventional bananas making them hard to eat.

Personally I'd take organic rice, potatoes, noodles, etc over conventional bananas just because they are easy to eat enough of without being put off by their smell.
