To reiterate, there are no essential nutrients to be found in eggs that cannot be found in plant foods or that cannot be produced by our own body. If you want to eat eggs, that's your choice, but they're not necessary for human health.

meant to add in "essential" amino acids which are mainly found in meat and dairy and the only other place you can get them is grains and legumes

yes jordan you are probably right, eventhough my body builder friend looks very healthy, but he alway complain about pain in stomach

At the end of the day our body needs calories. Its preferred and most ideal source is always fruits, however we have been forced to compensate with inferior foods and we are able to do so, but always with some form of compromise to our health in the long term. People, like your bodybuilder friend, tend to believe humans need large amounts of animal protein, especially if you are a bodybuilder or athlete because when they do not consume enough of these whilst exercising, they do not get the results they want. Logic would seem on the surface that their arguments therefore are supported by experience. However the reason they go for animal based proteins is that these foods are extremely high in calories. And furthermore, our caloric requirements decrease the more protein we consume in our diet. Animal proteins also contain no fibre, so they are less filling, so we can consume more of them.

The problem is that the human body was not meant to consume large quantities of protein. It cannot use protein for fuel, so it has to break it down to glucose to be used as energy. Most of the protein bodybuilders and other athletes consume is not used for their amino acids, but for conversion into glucose. The more we exercise, the more calories and therefore glucose we need to consume.

When we are getting enough calories from carbohydrates, such as those found readily digestible and usable in ripe fruits, our protein intake requirements reduce radically. Our actual baseline minimum protein requirements are only 0.3g per kg. For a 65kg male thats about 20g of protein per day. Its normally recommended we consume double this for safety, and so the minimum recommendations are around 37g per day.

When we consume more protein than we actually require, which if we are eating enough calories from carbohydrates, we always will be with animal products added, our body will not be able to use the protein. It cannot store excess protein, so it has to break it down to glucose and then store it as fat if the glucose is not needed. The trouble is that this is a really dirty process as the body has to break down the amino acids and turn them into sugars. I say this is a dirty process because lots of highly toxic substances are created within the body when doing this. These include ammonia, uric acid, phosphoric acid and all sorts of other crap. Our poor kidneys and bones pay the price for this, as we need to leach calcium from our bones to neutralise all this acidity to prevent us from keeling over. Our kidney has the job of excreting all the excess.

Bodybuilders do not need massive amounts of protein, especially not from eggs. They need calories. They may have been brainwashed into thinking that they need to obtain these from animal proteins, but the reality is that low protein foods that are high in carbohydrates, like fruits are much safer, healthier sources of calories and amino acids.

Jordan says that biology teachers tell us that we can only get amino acids from animal proteins. This is unfortunate nonsense. Unfortunately, biologists are taught all but the most basic level of nutrition, and if they paid a little more attention to their biochemistry lectures and books, they would soon figure out the nonsense behind this.

Fruits provide the most easily digested and used form of protein because the fruit enzymes have already predigested the fruit. So the fruits provide amino acids in a usable state, they do not have to be broken down by the body.

If you want atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels (which come not from high cholesterol intake in the eggs, but from the high protein intake), osteoporosis, cancer, kidney disease and adrenal exhaustion then eggs are a great food. But if you want to be healthy, then I would leave them for mother hen.

and o yeah, 2 dozen eggs is freaking over kill. I would definetely not suggest doing that because that guy probably has some kind of digestion issues if he eats that many, that and he probably takes the worst dumps known to mankind...

just going by what we get taught in biology- you can only get amino acids from meat and dairy products which is essential to break down proteins in your stomach (for the average human, some animals have the capability of breaking down protein better than others) the reason why people get old looking with age is because their stomachs lose the capability to digest protein that is essential for your skin and hair. Besides that, yeah the egg white is where most of the protein is and the yolk is good for you yet its high in cholesterol so many stay away from them.

But thats just what we learn in biology, many people do not agree with it on this site, I honestly would like to do the research myself so I can have an un biased answer.

Bottom line Imran is there are no essential nutrients in eggs or meat or fish or dairy that cannot be found in plant foods or produced by our own body under ideal circumstances. In order to get enough nutrients on 811/lfrv however you have to eat all the fruit your body needs. Generous quantities of green veggies don't hurt either :)
