Well sadly i fell off the wagon a bit a week ago when my sister came home from camp. i didn't eat at home the whole week she was here. i did the best i could but... anyway any reason i could say is just an excuse so.. moving on!
this week i've gotten back on the wagon! today was my day off and i decided to go for a hike. my friends are all busy people so i thought screw it i'll just go by myself. i packed up my backpack with dates and bananas (and a dragonfruit!) for lunch/snacks. then i remembered there's a farmer's market today so i raced over there and bought a pint of blueberries. mmmmm! the farmer's market was right beside Rawthentic, a raw restaurant/juice bar i've been meaning to go to. so many yummy sounding choices! i got an energy smoothie and a raw veggie wrap. it looked so good. Tara from 40 Below Fruity was there but i was too shy to say hi lol. cause everyone in there (customers and staff) were fit and beautiful and i felt so out of place. i drank the smoothie on the way up the mountain and tucked the wrap in my bag for lunch.
i'm so blessed that i live beside the ocean and i'm 45 mins from the ski hill :) there are people who live here who can ski, golf, and fish in the same day. (i like my snow on the mountains thank you very much!)
anyway i didn't get to the trailhead until 2:30 (oops!) so i decided to do the short 2k loop. when i got to the first juncture though it felt too short! so i took the trail heading up to Lake Helen Mackenzie (2.6k plus the 1k i just hiked) the lake was gorgeous!! i sat on the rocks and devoured my wrap (so hungry by then!) it was sooooo good. omg i'm definitely going to need a dehydrator! lol! i had half my pint of blueberries and some more water (though was sipping it along the way).
took some selfies (haha!) and moved on. though i should just point out i haven't done selfie pics in a long time. this lifestyle is making me way more happier and confident about myself!!
so it was 1.3k to the next juncture through the forest, and a lovely 1.7k hiking along a long lake called Battleship Lake. You can see the ski hill from here :)
after the lake was a beautiful hike through the woods. so yah.. took some more pics :P
i got to the last juncture and it was 1.4k to the parking lot! this section was mostly boardwalk though a marshy area. the whole hike was stunningly gorgeous and i was the most happy i've been all week! love the outdoors! i made a pact with myself to come out here every week until it snows (lol) and then possibly do some snowshoe hikes in the winter. the pics were all taken with my galaxy s3 so sorry for the quality!
i'm a pretty happy girl at the moment :) oh right.. ok so adding those all up, i hiked 8k and it took me 2 hours. i wasn't going at a very fast pace at all because i was totally enjoying the scenery and took pics every few steps lol. my break for lunch was probably about 20-30 minutes soaking up the sunshine!
