30 Bananas a Day!

After 2 years of fighting with eating disorders and disapproving parents I FINALLY GET TO BE A RAW VEGAN

Guys I cannot contain my happiness. I am going to university this August, and finally once and for all I can be fully raw! If you have known me throughout the years that I have been here, you know fully well how much I have fought with my parents for years to become a raw vegan. I have constantly been falling off the bandwagon and running back into eating disorders and self hate. I swore two years that I would be a raw vegan when I went to University, and finally this August when I move into college, an entire time zone away from my parents, I will be able to finally do what I know is right for me.

I was worried about being able to afford it, seeing as I will be on a budget of about $20 a month. Then I watched this video by a lovely college student who manages to be 100% raw in college, and I cannot put into words how life changing this video was for me. I contacted my University yesterday afternoon through email asking politely for accommodations on my meal plan. This afternoon I got a reply telling me to come in during orientation week so that we can plan out how this is going to work. Because my meal plan is unlimited, all of the food provided to me will be covered under what I pay every year for food, and I will not have to go out to the markets to buy any more fruit. Moreover, because I'm 18 the university doesn't have to ask my parents for permission to let me eat this way, and my parents never have to find out.

I'm going to be a raw vegan guys. I made it.  After all of these years. The future ahead of me is bright and brilliant.

Thanks RawBenny!

I am building this meal plan to make sure it includes variety. I don't think I will be able to include organics, sadly. Moreover I'm going to be overrun with school work, clubs, research, sports and a paying job to afford college. However, if I find an organic produce market at a reasonable distance I will certainly try to make time to volunteer for food.

Awesome, congrats!

If you can get produce through your meal plan, that's phenomenal. Although, you might want to have a part time job (local produce market?) so you can ensure your diet is a little more organic and varied, or does the U have organics? At my school there was an organic farm people could volunteer on in exchange for veggies, so you might check out if that type of thing is possible too.

Awesome! I'm super happy for you, especially since I'll be going to university soon myself. Best of luck, and remember to live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment!
