When I was 8 years old, my cousin and I were playing with small metal springs —trying to stretch them out. He stretched his straight by holding it in his teeth, and pulling on it — I tried it & my spring lodged in my throat. My breathing was a little constricted & I started to cry. My father rushed in and tried the Heimlich maneuver but it didn’t work. He turned me upsidedown and smacked me between the shoulder blades —no luck. My dad tried to stay calm but I could see he was panicking — he drove me to the hospital where I was examined. An xray was taken and I was shown the location of the spring & learned the word "esophagus." I sat on an examining table while the doctors discussed removing the spring — I was horrified by the options. I was miserable - curious nurses & doctors came in and out of the room, but nothing was happening. Finally, an older doctor came in with a banana, and told me to eat it. I liked bananas a lot, so I started eating. On the second bite I felt the spring move a little & each bite pushed it further--it hurt a little, but not much. The banana worked. That was the first time I was saved by a banana.
(My father got the bill and would often tease me about the " fifty dollar banana ” I had eaten.) The ER visit, xray and consult were all covered by his medical plan. Treatment: $50.00 - Banana. ( it actually said that on the bill — ) Our family medical plan refused to cover the banana treatment. Amount due: $50.00
Two decades later, while I was pregnant, I developed a hiatal hernia. This was not uncommon, my doctor said, and could probably / possibly be fixed with surgery. I didn’t want surgery, but was having trouble eating, underweight and exhausted. I turned to an alternative healer, an octogenarian woman who told me to eat at least 4 bananas every day. What? Another banana treatment? Seriously? I began eating bananas for breakfast and one before lunch and dinner. It didn’t take long for me to see improvement, so I kept eating bananas every day. Yes, I was " banana healed " again.
In 2009 I heard about the Asa Banana Diet that was wildly popular in Japan. I figured I could safely add more bananas to my daily bunch, and around that same time I discovered Freelee The Banana Girl on Youtube. She made sense & I immediately followed her lead. Family and friends either laughed or scowled as I pulled bananas out of my handbag to snack on, wherever we were. There was always a big pile of bananas in my kitchen, and a bag of banana peels in my car.
This was my 3rd healing by banana — every annoying health problem I had was gone within the first 6 months on The Banana Girl Diet and my energy level was through the roof. I had been doing yoga , tai chi, meditating, and following a vegan diet, but I still had achey stiffness, asthma, and other troubles. I needed to be HCRV to heal completely — eating about a dozen bananas a day.
I cannot imagine a day without bananas. Seriously.
