30 Bananas a Day!

I haven't figured out 2 weeks of job travel yet, and I leave Sunday. Food will be plentiful, I should stay about 40 minutes from NYC, but I don't have my room or hotel information yet.

If I get a room with a refrigerator-this is reality, some hotels don't have refrigerators or anything else in their room....(Mariott in Tulsa, is one of them) I'll buy almond milk. If not, I'll not bring my personal smoothie blender. It's winter and I need extra suitcase space cause my clothes are heavier than in the spring or summer.

I will know my hotel by the end of the day. I do plan on buying enough bananas to eat 3-4 a day, sometime on Monday. My work reimburses me for $12 a day breakfast, $20 a day lunch, $40 a day dinner. Meals can't be combined. Last year, I went to Whole Foods to buy food for different meals, and I did it three separate times for meal receipts. I almost didn't travel this year, but I realized this would e a chance to see NYC again, due to work travel. I love love love NYC. Always wanted to be there for my birthday, which falls on Thursday...

I find if I make a smoothie with water, or have a bowl of fruit, I get very hungry during the day, and I fail on 80-10-10. If I make a smoothie with almond milk, I do great during the day.I add 2 frozen bananas and another fruit, or just bananas. No hotel refrigerator, no almond milk.

I'm having to return my POS food processor  tried to make almond flour and the motor got hot. I'll get a new one when I return. Can't be without one.

If I do 80-10-10 right, it's not a struggle at all. But 2 weeks of work travel and reality, might not work as well as working from home, with my appliances and fruit within reach.

Ugh...still don't know my hotel. When I call and confirm the reservations, I'll ask about a refrigerator.

Food Emporium is called by another name now. Maybe Gristedes, not sure. But that's a good market, and Whole Foods is always a good choice. You can always call the hotel when you get the room info and such, and request a refridgerator. That's what we always do.

I love that city. I'm really excited. There's also Food Emporuims. Are they still there? Hopefully I have a refrigerator in my room.

Dried fruit, apples, and big bags of grapes are my staples for travel.  Also the whole food salad and smoothie bar.

Totally easy to do here, I agree. I don't think I've ever been to Vedge. Before 811, I used to eat at the raw vegan spots in the city. But their foods would be far too heavy for me now, since the base of all the dishes is nuts. But I agree, coming into the city will definitely be worth the drive for you.

If I lived in NYC, I'd totally already be vegan. I had no problems in 2009 with finding places that were vegetarian/vegan in NYC. I'll be an hour from Philadelphia...it'll be worth the drive to go and eat at a couple of those places as well. I really want to eat at Vedge.

We have so many vegan and vegetarian places here... You will have no problem finding one. Lol. You will also be able to find supermarkets that will have nice fruit selections as well. Not sure about Jersey though.

I'm going to eat at vegetarian places in NYC for dinner. For lunch, if there's a grocery store I can find on Sunday, I'll eat fresh fruit. If I only find a Walgreens, that's different. (Prior, Oklahoma, one diner, one Walmart, hopefully the town in New Jersey won't be like that).

It can be tricky when you're still transitioning. We were away about 2 weeks ago for a week. I wanted to take my Vitamix but it's too large, lol. So I ate my favorite fruits for breakfast and lunch (lots and lots of them) and snacks, then I ordered salads (naked) for my dinner. I was happy to get back home to my smoothies.
Enjoy your trip and I'm sure you will find ways to make it work :)
