Hey guys I have been a member for about a week now and have been just reading and trying to get used to this site. I was sent here by a friend who is lfrv, and has been doing awesome with it. This site is very informative and helpful and the members seem to all care for one another :)
Background: I am 38 years old and have been overweight since just out of high school and have tried many different diets and food theories over the years with no real continued success. I have several health issues that I hope to improve with this transition such as high blood pressure, pre diabetes, joint pain, borderline depression, skin issues, low energy levels, low motivation, hormonal irregularities (diagnosis of low testosterone by multiple doctors), stomach issues, and maybe a few more things....as if that weren't enough LOL. I have two sons and my biggest motivation besides to be healthy for me is to be able to ride the rides with them at amusement parks like I used to and participate actively in their lives.
I started attempting this lifestyle approximately one month ago today and so far I have had what I consider amazing results and a few setbacks as well. Results first then setbacks :)
1. Skin improvement
2. Faster facial hair growth
3, Slight mood increase
4. Stomach issues resolving
5. Anything that comes out of my body is much cleaner (smelling too....gross I know but I want to have a progression to follow later in the following months)
6. Automatic motivation to exercise (walking for me makes me winded and sweat)
7. Slight energy increase
1. Detoxifying in random places manifesting in random ways
2. Old food cravings that I am occasionally giving in to
3. Had a bought with diverticulitis and fever related weakness
4. Gastric issues until I started learning about mono meals...I was doing fruit cocktails all the time at first
5. Peeing a lot
I started at 305 lbs and am at 278 so far in 30 days. All my clothes fit so much better and I am feeling much better and more alert, but I know I have a long way to go. I am still a little lost on what to eat, especially since I have a disposition to low testosterone and I don't want to rob my body of tools to assist in that. I also don't want to just buy a ton of bananas all of the time like my friend suggested. I walk for approximately an hour a day for at least 4 days a week and drink only filtered water (about a gallon per day) My diet now consists of a randomish meal that might be some apples, oranges, bananas, strawberries, sometimes pineapple, sometimes watermelon and my green meals are usually baby spinach leaves mixed with romaine leaves with sliced cucumber, tomato, celery, bell pepper, baby carrots, and as of now I'm putting organic balsamic vinegarette because I have yet to locate a good dressing replacement. I occasionally cheat with a small baked chicken breast or grilled fish but I want to either completely stop consuming those or in the least transition from those to 100% lfrv, but I'm going from a lifetime of cooked S.A.D. diet to this and it's very hard - the cravings are strong.
Thanks for the accept and I look forward to continued improvement until I am where I need to be!
