30 Bananas a Day!

After 8 months doing raw til 4, I decided to switch to an all raw diet on November 1 and, so far, I'm really loving the switch. I thought I'd use this blog to track some of the changes that I've seen so far.

Positives:

-Much clearer skin. I had cleared up the worst of my acne on raw til 4, but I'm happy to see that the rest of it is finally healing up on all raw. My face is also more even, less red, and less dry.

-No bloating whatsoever. I wake up with a much flatter stomach than before. It also flattens out much quicker after meals.

-Amazing digestion. I feel extremely light. I'm easily having 3-5 bowel movements per day. On Raw til 4, I would generally only have one, sometimes two.

-My workouts are easier than ever. I'm flying through exercises that were previously a challenge.

-My sleep is deeper. I do not wake up in the middle of the night any longer.

Negatives:

-I crave more overt fats. I was eating 5% fat on raw til 4, but now I generally end up between 8-12%. One day I hit 15%.

-I've had a lot of menstrual spotting since the morning of day 3. I don't normally experience this. I don't know what is causing this.

-I have a lot of food sensitivities to things like tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, spices, etc and so I've found it hard to find dinner options besides fruit meals. I can see this becoming boring eventually.

And that's what I have noticed so far. I am planning to do at least 2 months and then make a decision from there. I'm really loving it, though. I thought I felt good doing raw til 4, but I feel twice as good now. I'm hoping this feeling lasts :)

I seem to have gotten the overt issue under control. I added a few extra dates and I have had no cravings yesterday or today. However, I have been extremely tired. I slept my normal 9 hours, but had trouble getting out of bed and have been really dragging all day. I'm also sore from a workout that I did 3 days ago which is really not like me. I think the calories are still not there, which is frustrating. I don't know why I need such a huge amount of food. I honestly think I need to be aiming for 4000 and I don't know how affordable that will be.

My face is getting clearer by the day. Marks on my face that have been there for 2-3 months are rapidly  fading. I wish I had taken some pictures of my skin before I started. It's very noticeable.

The spotting is continuing. It's been 9 days of it now and I'm somewhat baffled. Is this detox? Is it my hormones balancing? I have no idea.

Other than that, I'm still loving fully raw and how good it makes me feel. I'm definitely going to have to figure out how to make it affordable, though.

I think it is definitely a calorie issue. I was hitting 3500+ when I was having a cooked dinner and now I've only been at around 3200 max. As of tomorrow, I might start throwing some dates in my morning smoothie to up it a little bit more.

I'm honestly surprised at how little I'm missing my cooked dinner. I thought I was going to feel so deprived. I've certainly had some slight cravings for it since it's starting to get cold and I crave something warm, but for the most part I'm feeling so good eating fruit that I don't really find the idea of eating cooked food all that appealing. I don't want to go back to a bloated stomach and feeling so weighed down. I actually wish I had made the jump a few months ago

Hey Rebecca, Congrats on going raw. I did it for 40 days during winter and lost 15kgs easy - peasy. No asthma this season for the first time in 4 years.

I must confess that now I am probably raw 4 to 5 days per week but my fat content I suspect is rather high with the inclusion of an avocado salad everyday which includes, a head of lettuce, a corn of sweet corn cut off the cob, one whole red bell pepper dices, lime juice, Lebanese cucumber, a little fresh chilli. Certainly this salad is very satisfying as a main during the day or a main in the evening. I need nothing else.

On the days I break out it is usually because my fridge is bare of the sweet treat fruits I want to eat or I have let myself get too hungry and so I want a quick fix of something heavy and starchy such as (white rice). And yes it does seem to stack the weight on and also make me feel heavy and bloated.

If you're craving overts you may not be eating enough. i find I need more calories all raw. Cooked foods made me full but were digested slowly. Try adding a few 100 calories extra of fruit.

I don't get bored because the fruit always makes me feel the best! Add greens like romain or baby greens to your smoothies to make sure youre getting enough minerals, make raw soup with cucumber, celery and half an avocado after you've had enough fruit, get creative! :)
